Fantasy Hook ups

We are a family of 5 and just returned from our cruise last weekend. We had a great time. I was curious about something and thought someone would know the answer. My husband and I listened to one of the entertainers on board several times by the pool and in a bar. He was talented and very friendly and fun to listen to. A young single woman was in the bar every night and very clearly liked the entertainer and it looked like she tried to make many overtures. The performer was gracious but clearly just finished his sets and left at his assigned times. I'm assuming there are rules about this and he probably wasn't interested either. Has anyone seen attempted pick ups like this? I know there are relationships between crew/cast members but wondering if that happens with a passenger.

On another note, I miss being on the boat. I have to schedule another cruise.

Definitely! My 16 year old plays the guitar and often tells me how much chicks dig guys that play the guitar.

There HAVE to be rules against hooking up with the guests, right? Though I'm sure it must happen.

So the possibilities are:
- He is a good employee and would never break the rules.
- He wasn't attracted to her.
- He has a girlfriend/wife.
- He's gay (which I guess is a subset of "not attracted to her").

And now I HAVE TO KNOW WHICH IT IS!!! o_O

Go back on the ship and find out.

It's definitely a reason to book another cruise on the Fantasy! I do think he was a good employee. Don't know about girlfriend etc. It was a good source of entertainment for a few nights without the kids.

Could be a new late night Navigator Activity. I actually had a hard time naming the thread but figured someone would open it anyway!

I do believe the crew is supposed to avoid "fraternizing" with the passengers.

I read a few books written by cruise ship crew members about their experiences (on other lines), and they all said that intimate contact between passengers and crew was a firing offense. They also said that there were many, many opportunities to violate that restriction, especially for officers. A fair number of passengers are looking for a vacation fling, and some officers were semi-notorious about taking them up on their offers. Some were able to skate by as long as they were fairly high up in the hierarchy, well-liked by their superiors and kept things scrupulously discreet. Whereas a lower-level crew member who was considered expendable might just flirt a bit too much with a passenger and find themselves kicked off the ship at the next port. A lower level crew member like an entertainer is not going to be anything other than friendly to a passenger, at least in a public place with lots of people watching; they want to keep their job.

Also, lots of crew members have an onboard boyfriend or girlfriend, and it's hard to sneak around on a cruise ship; too many people know what's going on.

If I had to guess, I would assume Disney is even more strict than other cruise lines about no-fraternization rules. But that's just a guess.

it would all depend on weather or not the entertainer was in fact a cm or a contracted entertainer. cm's are not allowed to enter a guest cabin without first getting permission from there superior. this goes for any guests, a friend, a girlfriend, a relative. they need to get permission. apparently its seldom not granted however it is a firing offence if they do not get that permission first.
an entertainer has to abide by their contract which could and most likely does have that clause in it.
i have a friend who was a cm for dcl and he told me this.

Unless he was one of the cruise staff, the entertainers are going to be contracted with DCL, and the contractors that will risk that income stream to dally with a passenger are few and far between. Unless this passenger was a goddess, it would take a lot to try and tempt a professional to fraternize. Had she been just friendly, and less "on the hunt" if that's how she was, he may have stuck around and chatted with a group of people, but if she was blatantly trying to flirt, then he was probably just trying to get out of the situation to avoid any possible misinterpretations by the ship's officers.

Well mine would be Elizabeth Banks, Famke Janssen, Isla Fisher, Elizabeth Hurley, Kate Hudson, Cameron Diaz, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Pfeiffer- Ooooooooh, sorry!!! I misunderstood this thread! :rotfl:

He definitely was professional. He would chat with people for a few minutes while packing up. The girl was the funny part. She said really suggestive things which he would ignore and just proceed with the set. It was clearly not happening for her. She was attractive but would have been annoying to me if I was him. I was more inquiring if people had seen a "successful" attempt to hookup or if there were rules about it. Just curious...

Funny! Definitely posted the wrong thread title.

Funny you mentioned Famke Janssen. There is a head server on Dream that my husband says looks like Famke Janssen. She has been our head server on two different sailings. Maybe my husband requested her! :love2:

If you are talking about David, the musician in O'Gill's, he has a girlfriend whom he is completely besotted with. (He is a friend of ours).

There is a rule, I was watching a youtube video of a CM and oddly enough her video was how to get fired from a cruise ship.
