Fantasy Hook ups

It was David, I wasn't going to say his name. He clearly wasn't doing anything and he probably didn't hear a lot of what she said. We were more entertained by her antics. Oddly enough, there was also a drunk guy in the bar that pulled his stool up about one foot from David's face and clapped in his face during a few songs. It didn't faze him. David was great, we loved watching him. Did a great cover of Hey There Delilah and Folsom Prison Blues. If anyone is on the Fantasy, it's a treat to hear him. My husband and son both play guitar and liked his playing a lot. Loved O' Gills. Able to listen to great music and watch NCAA basketball at the bar. The bar staff was great too and our favorite in all the bars on the ship.

If you are talking about David, the musician in O'Gill's, he has a girlfriend whom he is completely besotted with. (He is a friend of ours).

Did you meet him on the ship or were you already friends with him? We thought he was great. We caught him one of the earlier days at the pool and ended up going to see him play several evenings as well. He added a nice variety to go along with the more pop vocal groups on board. He would ask for requests and at one point my daughter asked him to play One Direction. He politely refused...it was funny.

We met him the very first night on board on our Feb 7-14 cruise. We were cruising without our kids, so we spent every night in O'Gills and pretty much just made it a point to be wherever he was performing, he was by far our favorite onboard. We spent a lot of time talking to him that week as he'd stop by before or after his sets and spend quite a while just talking. We've spoken quite a few times since we came home... He is truly a great human being and an awesome representative for DCL.

My personal favorite is his version of Mr. Brightside, or possibly Hurt. I think he has quite a fan club by the end of every cruise. Don't worry about sharing his name- I'm sure he would take it as a compliment that you thought he was handling it very professionally. :) I may use this info to tease him a bit though!

On a 4 night Dream cruise we took a couple of years ago, there definately seemed like there was something going on between one of our table mates, a very pretty single lady and one of our servers. They seemed like they were talking in code to each other about what happened the night before. They obviously had spent some time together partying.

I liked Mr. Brightside also. I'm so glad we heard him early because we loved spending evenings in O' Gills. We have older kids 16,14 and 8, so we were able to get out alone after dinner. He did get a following. Several couples and individuals began showing up at the bar every night. My favorite thing the girl said was that she could be Rose, he could be Jack, and he could take her down below deck like in the movie. He didn't seem to even register hearing the comment, or did a great job ignoring it. I'm sure employees hear a lot of interesting things.

I actually just heard from him and he said his girlfriend was sailing last week as well (she is onboard periodically as a manager) and he said she did a lot of deflecting for him. Poor guy.

David was absolutely awesome!!! He would play by the adult pool area during the day and we would go see him at night in O'Gills. He really stood out as a performer and loved his sets!!

That's good to hear, I hope he doesn't mind that I brought it up. I was kind of curious how often employees have to deal with that kind of stuff. I'm sure it's often. He was excellent in the way he dealt with people and I'm glad his girlfriend is there sometimes to help him out.

He has a good sense of humour, he seemed to find it funny. Don't worry at all! And apparently, this is not the first time... I'm guessing it happens pretty regularly. If I wasn't nearing 40 and with my husband all the time I maybe would have been mistaken for talking him too. Haha!

My husband and I joked that he may think we were stalking him because we went to see him so much! We weren't the only ones though. I just really liked that atmosphere in O'Gills over the other bars. And the music was great.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I totally cried when we left him on the last night! If that doesn't scream 'middle-aged stalker' I don't know what would! And he still talks to me regularly, so either he doesn't scare easily, or he's just a really nice guy.

My friend (now in her mid 30s) worked for DCL in her 20's before she got married, it was only Magic and Wonder then. Anyway I asked her if there were any hook-ups on the ships and she said "absolutely". She told me that CM hooked up all the time and occasionally also with passengers. Mostly it was just the CM though. They apperantly have their own lounge, they get served alcohol, have music and dancing... What do you think might happen? ;)
Now... things and rules might have changed since then.

Passenger can get in trouble too. My first cruise.....on a small French cruise line.......the cruise director said they actually had to ban a frequent passenger after they discovered a line of cabin stewards outside her cabin.

Funny you mentioned Famke Janssen. There is a head server on Dream that my husband says looks like Famke Janssen. She has been our head server on two different sailings. Maybe my husband requested her! :love2:

Uhhhhhhh... We are on the July 19th Dream. I might need to make a dining request.

Ancay ouyea ivegay emay erhay amenay? (I put it in code so my wife wont know what is going on.)

:lmao:
