trying to decide on category 4a stateroom on deck 9 or 10. We have a choice of 10600 or 9616. What would you choose?

Thank you

For our cruise next month, we were assigned a room on deck 10, but I called and change to deck 9 since we were worried about noise from Deck 11 where the pools are located. We are hoping deck 9 is quieter.

Another vote for deck 9 due to potential noise, and the overhang is quite large on deck 10.

10600 is basically under the kids slide and family(kid) hot tub. Definite noise potential.

ETA; In this pic you can see how massive this overhang is compared to the lower cabins.

On our two cruises I booked deck 9. I have always been leery of both the huge overhang right overhead on deck 10 and noise form the deck above. I say just don't chance it and book 9616.

While I agree the potential for noise is possibly greater in a deck 10 room vs a deck 9 room, that wasn't our experience.

On deck 10 our room was below the starboard entry area for the arcade and Cabanas. The only noise issue (and I wouldn't call it that) was after the fireworks on pirate night we could hear the thumping bass in the music during the after party.

On deck 9 we had a lot of noise. It seemed that there was a group (on deck 10) that apparently felt the only way to proceed down the passageway was by running foot races. Our room was between 2 connecting rooms on one side and 3 connecting rooms on the other. The double room had kids that liked to jump off the bunk bed (at least that's what it sounded like). And the kids in the three rooms took laps running through the connecting doors/verandahs every morning.

For me, picking a room first choice is what the forward/aft location is. Mid ship is my preference. Then I look to see what's above/under the room. Since both of those choices are midship, I'd probably choose 9616. Slight edge to being a non-connecting room, with a little nod to being on deck 9 vs 10.

We stayed in 10600 in 2013. I would not book that room again due to the issues noted in posts above. Every morning (early) we heard chairs scraping above. It often woke us up. I also did not like the overhang at all as it made picture taking more difficult. The midship location was nice though, but we all were in agreement that if we sailed the Fantasy again we would not stay on deck 10.
