**Fantasy Becomes Reality** Group--5/19/2012 (INDEX/ROLE CALL, PAGE 1--ENTRY 1)

I know the local hotels near the port have been discussed but does anyone have a preference as to which they like better? :confused3 We will be arriving very late so bedding preference and things like that are not as important. The main thing is how long the wait is for the shuttle to get to and from the port. My DH does not have alot of patience and I was wondering if they are pretty organized getting to and from the ship pretty quickly. :scared1: Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks so much for any information.:flower3:

Got an 11 AM port arrival, no such luck with Palo dinner. Hopefully, something will open up between now and then.

My girls are competive gymnasts so we have been traveling a lot lately to meets or either living at the gym. I let the check in date slip by and now I'm paying for it...UGH!!!

I just checked and there are 2 spots open for Palo dinner right now. So maybe you will have luck and they will still be there today.

We stay and CI&S and we like it. Last time we were able to be on the first shuttle to the port, we were at the port in 15 minutes, and only waited a couple minutes to return. They do maintain a list of the passengers assigned to each shuttle time leaving the hotel. Not sure if you are interested but I have also heard good things about the "park and cruise" lot as well.

Since we're first-time cruisers, we don't have the option of checking in prior to March 5th. I hope *something* is left for us!!

We have 5 or 6 staterooms in our group, and two of them have new travelers...so it's been quite the challenge to deal with the fact that we can schedule some, but not all. We may have to do some begging when we make it on the ship!!!

Note to self....take anti-depressants when trying to coordinate large groups....thanks very much. Signed, Me.

We have stayed at the Hilton in Cocoa Beach and were NOT happy with the shuttle experience there. They had 2 booking times: we took the earlier one at 10:30 and at 11 am we were still waiting, while shuttles going to "other" cruise ships were leaving. Then, on the return, it took us OVER 1 HOUR to get back to the hotel. So even with their free parking, it was not worth it.

I also have stayed at Doubletree in Cocoa Beach, with a much better experience getting to the port. However, returning was still a bit of a hassle, and we were waiting out in the hot sun and had to call up before our shuttle came.

So while I love staying at those hotels (Diamond Hilton member so DH gets free internet to be able to work before we leave on a weekday), I have not found their shuttles to the port to be good. We drive now instead!

Hello all,
We are new to this discussion board and would like to be included in your roster. Our DIS name is StJohnsCrew, because we live in St Johns county Florida, which is close to Jacksonville. I'm originally from NYC and my wife is from Bialystok, Poland. Our names are: Matthew - 8/M, Ashley - 10/G, Grazyna - 39/G and John(me) - 50/M. Our stateroom is #5656. I guess we could celebrate Ashley's graduation from elementary school or our kids birthdays, both of them are in June. We have the late dinner seating and the 7 pm show, except for a 6:30 Monday night Palo dinner. I do not think we will be participating in FE, sorry. The family and I are looking forward to this cruise and meeting some new friends. Our first cruise, on the Dream (2/3/11), was to short. We didn't get to enjoy everything the ship had to offer. Now, we can relax and take our time. We might even take in a movie. Thanks.

I hope your daughter & her baby are okay. I don't want to see you change dates but I know you need to be there with your daughter. Prayers with your family.

Thanks so much for the information! We are all set for the Country Inn and Suites the night before sailing but probably won't get there in time to do anything but sleep! :rolleyes2 The rate was very reasonable and I was impressed there was no extra charge for leaving our car there a week :thumbsup2

On another note, we are probably going to rent a car or a couple of mopeds once we get to St. Maarten and head out for some sight seeing.:drive: Has anyone heard of Aqua Mania Adventures? :confused3 They have a one hour horseback ride that sounded like fun but I am a little skeptical of off site places. Any one have any information or know of any other place that offers horseback riding along the water?:flower3:

Welcome John & Family! :banana::banana::banana:

My daughter is also 10 (going on 14). I'll let her know there is at least another girl in the DIS group her age. That will make her happy. :)

Hmmmm ....multi-quote didn't work. Will post next response in separate post.

GarRy -- so sad to see you go but agree, I hope all goes well with your DD and her babe. Best of luck to you and your family!!!

Ashley will LOVE that! She will be almost 11 and I was just wondering if there will be other 10 and maybe 11 years old girls to have fun with. I don't think my almost 9 year old son will have a problem with finding a friend, we have lots of boys coming!:yay:

Ok, have been MIA from posting but have been reading and doing my best to keep up the past few days! Work has been miserable and very very political - something I am not good at so it is taking its toll.

Sabrina and I head out on Sunday for Philadelphia to pickup Sabrina's 2 new back braces from Shriner's hospital. Hopefully the weather is nice on Sunday and Monday since we will be running around the city a bit. Cross your fingers for me that she doesn't fight me much with wearing them. I am very worried it will be a challenge and a fight. Which, at her age, hard not to have sympathy but really need her to wear them if we are going to keep the curves in check.

Other than that, not too much going on. I booked Barnard's tour for St Maarten and did decide to stay at BC after the cruise instead of the Swan :goodvibes.

Quick question regarding the FE - what was the cutoff for the final decision?

have a good day everyone!
Mati

John - Sabrina wants to try to get into the tween club instead but I am not so sure I even want to let her try. Have you guys discussed this?

Any chance Ashley is online playing WordsWithFriends? Sabrina plays, would be a great way to get them in touch with each other before the cruise.

Ok - back to work, for real this time!
