Fantasy 7N Western - July 6, 2013

Hey Wallace family, could you please post your t-shirt sizes for each member of your family. We are working on FE gifts. See you in less than 30 days!!!!!

Hey there. We are using our friends account here.

Andy- XL
Vicky- L
Robert- Adult L
Grace- Adult M

If you could forward this to the guy that runs the FE that would be great.

Thank you and see ya real soon!

Just booked VGT for this sailing this past Friday for my 2 1/2 year old daughter, 68 year old mother, and myself (36 year old m). Currently going through a 1 1/2-2 year long custody and visitation battle with ex wife over rights to my baby girl so this is going to be a much needed week being able to enjoy time with my daughter and my mother. This will be our first Disney cruise. My baby girl and I flew to Orlando on this same week last year and spent a whole daddy/daughter week together at DW and had the greatest experience I have ever been blessed with. My mother has been on a few Carnival cruises and I have been on, I think, 6 Carnival cruises in the past 18 years. Looking very forward to my first Disney cruise experience but, more than anything, l am looking forward to having a whole week to spend with my daughter and for my mother to get to spend with her granddaughter. Going to be a long 25+/- days until....................

very green question................what is FE????

I did not have time to do the FE justice so I stayed out of that but I might drop by the 3:00 get together if you guys don't mind.

Welcome aboard!

The FE is short for "fish extender". We get a group of people together and basically do a small gift exchange over the length of the cruise. You hand pouches from the fish which are outside each stateroom and people will drop gifts off. It's a lot of fun to come back to your stateroom and find little gifts every now and then :)

I did not have time to do the FE justice so I stayed out of that but I might drop by the 3:00 get together if you guys don't mind.

The 3pm meet is not just for the FE group (though the FE group being there helps since we can update room lists if anyone switches rooms).

It's really for everyone from the DIS who will be there to get together, get to know each other a bit, and for the kids to see each other and start bonding so they can do things together.

So hopefully everyone can make it!

Hi All,
We are getting ready for our cruise! My husband and our threee kids are celebrating our recent wedding by going on a "Family Moon" (honeymoon with kids).
I have not read all of the posts on this tread yet, but I'm looking forward to it!

Congrats and welcome!

Looks like this cruise is finally starting to fill up.

Congratulations, and welcome to the group. We did a family moon many years (and children) ago, except ours was to Dollywood in TN. What are the ages of your children? We are excited to meet new people.

I'm new to posting on these threads, so I don't know all of the meanings of 'DDH', etc.
Our family includes:
Ron
Maura
Aidan-12 1/2
Maeve-11 1/2
Trey- 7

Hello All.

My family and I were able to book this cruise last minute. We are so excited as it will be our second cruise, first was on the Fantasy last August. Last year we were scheduled for the Western cruise; however, the night before due to a hurricane the cruise changed to the Eastern.

We look forward to meeting everyone.

Tara - Mom
Andy - Dad
Aj - 11
Aidan - 9

Welcome aboard to the new families! Can't wait to meet everyone at the 3pm meet and start mingling. :)

It is 20 days to departure! :cool1: We still do not have our room assignment. Does anyone know when they assign the rooms? I looked at the online booking and there are still most Verandah Stateroom categories available. Maybe they won't assign it until they reach a certain percentage of sold rooms? Surely there is a cutoff. What is the latest you have heard of for VGT room assignments?

We're also waiting on our VGT room assignment. On our last cruise we didn't get an assignment until 2 weeks out.

Still no room assignment but today we did get an email from Disney that we had been moved to Main Dining. Since we were late in booking we were originally given second seating but requested to be put on a waiting list to change. Today we were moved to Main Seating. We did second seating on another Disney Cruise and found it was just to late to eat dinner for our preference. Hopefully the room assignment is coming soon!

Does anyone know what movies will be playing on the ship while we are on board?

I just discovered this group. Is it too late to join in the FE?

I'm guessing it's probably too late but I'll let the person in charge say for sure. :goodvibes.

I really hate to do this but I think I may need to bow out of the FE. :( Maybe curtissfamily can take my spot??!

I'm having a really hard time on figuring out what to get all the kids (the other cruises the kids were younger like my children so it was easier for me to get stuff). I'm just not sure what to get and we are getting so close to the cruise. Any ideas?? I hate getting something lame that will just be tossed. I'm not crafty at all either so I just don't know what to do for adults either.

Piya -

I followed up on Facebook as well, but wanted to do so here, as well. I'd say - don't stress too much! There are a lot of options that don't need to be crafty or cost a lot. A gift per person isn't necessary - cabin gifts are fine as well.

Some of our favorites are snacks for movies (Candy from Costco packs, or movie theater candy from 5 Below or the Dollar Tree), bookmarks (laminated strips of scrapbook paper, sometimes embellished), scrapbook diecuts made with a Cricut diecut machine, ornaments (I love these - some of my favorite souvenirs because I remember the cruise every time we put up our Christmas tree). We've also really enjoyed the gifts that are from a person's home area - they're usually themed to the area and not necesarily for a specific person. Candy or drinks that are from a famous place, a post card and a keychain or magnet.

Some things we've done are floral headbands (glue a silk flower on a headband), bookmarks, slap bracelets for some of the older girls, small footballs for some of the older boys, keychains, bracelets, etc. We've also done cruise survival kits (a zip lock or two for those chocolate chip cookies, a clothespin to help keep the curtains closed, a hilighter for the navigator and a couple of other small things I can't recall). For the EBTA I made phrase cards in Spanish and Portuguese, and I almost always include magnets that I print out on cardstock, laminate and glue magnets to.

I think something as simple as a journal and pen for trip journaling would be nice. And now that I've said that - I think I know what I'm doing for my next FE! :rotfl:

Does anyone know what movies will be playing on the ship while we are on board?

I'm hoping we get to see the new "Monsters University" movie on the ship but "The Lone Ranger" is also coming out right before our sailing. Hmm, maybe both? Not sure how many first run movies they do on one sailing. I remember when we were on the Dream in '11 we saw "Cars 2" but the other movies that played were older.
