I have not been on our thread in a while and I am happy to see so many new disers joining the thread I can't wait to meet everyone in person and we are on the cruise. Our weather in Maine has been cold - 10 this morning.The only thing helping me deal with the weather is thinking about our cruise

I hear ya! I LOVE winter! Love to sled, ski, have snowball fights...... but this year. No snow! WHAT? So.... all the cold and none of the fun!

Four weeks today we will be mid-atlantic on our last trip before Sophie's A2 exams, I can't wait to be warm again!! Run faster Donald!

First of all, I want to say thanks for organizing the FE. I think it will be a lot of fun! A few quick questions for you though.....

I know that August seems like forever away, but with our crazy lives, it will fly by. I am going to get a head start on the FE's (I think I'm going to try to do the home made thing). If I do a little at a time, it will be fun, if I wait until the summer, it will be frantic and not so much fun since we are hardly ever home (we're lake bums). So sorry if this is a little early to ask questions, but I am trying to figure out how all of this is going to work.

1. When making the FE, do we have one pocket per person or one pocket for the kids and one for the folks?

2. Do we give one gift per person or per cabin?

3. If the group gets huge, will we break it into smaller groups or just have one big one?

3. Do you give something each day or just once?

4. Hmmm..... do you have any other words of wisdom?

Hi! Never too early to plan. Will do my best, but in my opinion, I would say that the 'rules' of FE is that there are no rules!!!

1) Probably most people do one pocket each, unless they have lots of children! If you want to do 2 pockets, that works too, as does a bag, a Christmas stocking (OK maybe not for August!) or really anything that will hang from the fish.

2) This is entirely up to you - we have done (and received) both.

3) I've not been in a FE that got huge, but I have seen a few threads where the group was split due to numbers. I'll keep you all updated and we can decide that if it becomes an issue?

4) Again, this is your choice - we have sometimes given once, other times twice. I've never been organized enough to do one per day!! We've usually received once or a few times as well, every day only on a 3 night cruise.

5) It would be helpful if we decided a 'cut off date' for joining the FE, as this helps people plan, especially if they are making gifts.
Also we need a 'communication door' where we could leave a message if anyone changes cabins. (I'm happy for this to be mine.)

Otherwise in my opinion the fun is is the making, the giving and coming 'home' to find all sorts of goodies hanging from your door. I love seeing what people have made, or gifts that tell something of where they are from, but anything is great fun and very gratefully received!!

So far we have 6 families signed up for the FE, 13 adults and 11 children/teenagers (4 boys and 7 girls).

We do have one member who is allergic to nuts - so please, no goodies containing nuts.

Will keep you all updated as the list grows.

This is probably the simplest way of saying what A2's are. If you have read Harry Potter, A levels (second half of which are A2's) are like NEWTS but with exams spread over the last two years.
