Fantasy- 7 night Western- August 4, 2012

:welcome::welcome::welcome:

We've been doing a lot of camping at the lake (and I'm totally unplugged). Wow! A lot has happened since I've checked the boards. :) It's great to have so many people saying hi and joining the FE!

It sounds like everyone is getting busy with last minute vacation plans. We did manage to go shopping for the kiddos last week. DD needed just a few things and DS needed everything!:scared1: He has grown 5 inches since back to school shopping last year! It was fun and I think that we are set!

I have to confess.... I haven't even started on my FE gifts yet. :confused3 I really couldn't decide what to do. Now that I have I need to get going as we are making most of them. I LOVE doing crafty things but never seem to have the time! We are super busy the next two weeks so I know that I will be scrambling to get them done! I don't know why I always do this to myself. I guess I just always work best with a deadline!:scared:

I am counting down the days until I see you fine folks on the FANTASY!:cool1:

Take care and have a GREAT WEEK all!

Hi everyone- Wow I can't believe it is almost time for our cruise. :goodvibes I am a BIG list maker and on Sunday I started my first " things to do before the cruise" list:coffee: I am sure there will be Many, Many more list to come:rotfl2::lmao: has anyone given any thought to a cruise meet? On other cruises we have had a quick meet on the first day before the Life boat drill in one of the adult lounges about 3 pm. Just a thought if anyone has any other ideas please feel free to share your ideas. looking forward to meeting everyone soon and lots of :beach:

I am a list maker, too. I have had my packing list made out for months already! I even contemplated getting out the suit cases last night just to have them ready. :laundy:

I would love to meet everyone! I've never been involved in a cruise meet before, so I'll leave this one to the experts. I hope we can get something put together.

Have just joined the thread. Better late than never. We are true Disney veterans but this is our first Disney cruise. Joining me on the cruise is DH, DD (20) and DD (16) . We have been so excited and can't believe it is almost here. Myself and DD(16) will be at WDW July 26-28 for a Irish dancing festival at Disney. She will be dancing at DTD on sat and parade on main st sun. I will fly home Sunday and drive back with the rest of the family later that week. Dd will stay in Fla with the grandparents during that week. Hope there is a meet and greet on the ship. I feel like I know you already.

I want to know my Stateroom numbers! The suspense is killing me. I was fine a month ago when I knew that there wasn't a chance that they would assign them that early but once this week started and the assignments could be any day now, I am getting super impatient! I'm going be glued to this computer until I know. :surfweb:

I'm right there with you; probably look on the website 2 to 3 times a day. Not sure why I'm so consumed by knowing where we will be putting our things (since we don't spend much time in the room) but I just can't help myself :(

I think the stateroom assigners went on strike! Arrrrrggggghhhhhhhh!:headache:

Can you explain the posts about room assignments? Why didn't you select a room when the cruise was booked? I assume you get some type of discount for flying "standby".

Yep - for example you know you'll get a Guaranteed Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, you just don't know where. The best part, it is an incredibly discounted rate (with heavy restrictions). I was shocked they had some available for the Fantasy.

Still waiting and checking several times a day myself. :)

Where can I get the information about this?

I'm glad they had availability! We had to go GTY when we switched cruises. Now I'm just not so patiently waiting to find out our cabin number! :furious:

I feel you Pain...........we waiting not so patiently here to. Last week late Friday afternoon the Guest boarding the Fantasy on the 28th got their Assignments. Before you get you hopes up....some previous cruisers did not get theirs until Monday 12 days before departure. I have checked my personal email 1000 Times today !

On a positive note most of them got heavily upgraded so the wait was worth it !

Is anyone else ready to pack? I can barely stand it anymore!! I want to get my suitcases out and get everything ready. Now I just have to figure out where all of my FE gifts are going to get stashed so they don't get manhandled!

Any news on a meet? Anyone participated in one in the past?

Hello everyone,

This is our first cruise, and I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to give some tips for packing clothes. Would something like this suffice for me(woman): 1 evening dress, 2 pairs of shorts, 3 pairs of casual pants, 2 dressy tops, 3 regular tops (besides pajamas, exercise clothes, etc)? There's a ton of information on this forum, but since we've only now started thinking about this cruise, I could use any specific tips. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks!

Hello from Orlando!! :yay:

It's been a bit hectic since we arrived late on Tuesday, celebrating my birthday, having our A/C break down and having to arrange a repair before we all boiled (than made a dent in our souvenir money :(), doing some shopping (my girls love the shopping here much better than in England!) and today having our Dine with an Imagineer, which was awesome, I totally recommend it if you have any interest in working for Disney or just want to know a bit more of the background to the creation. And Sophie now knows that her planned qualifications are perfect!!!!

Back to the thread - we have done several cruise meets, the best ones seemed to be meeting on Embarkation Day before the safety drill in one of the lounges. Gives everyone a chance to touch base before the cruise properly begins, especially teenagers who are planning to hang out together.

We've also done a few great ones during the cruise, on sea days.

If we plan a Day 1 meet, maybe Elfinjojo could suggest a good spot as she's already been on the Fastasy?

Vfour - I would need some more casual tops and shorts, but we are from the UK and find the temperatures in Florida / on the cruise rather high and thus need more clothes! Are the casual pants suitable to be worn with the dressy tops, or do you need some dressy pants as well? Please feel free to ignore me as I tend to overpack (but not as much as I used to!).

Hope all those waiting for room assignments get them soon, I'm pacing for you!!!!

Glad you made it safely to the states :), we will be there Friday, woohoo!

As for a meeting place, I didn't goto any meets during the MV but have been recommended the outlook on deck 14 as a good place, which is where the group I am in for the first cruise will be meeting. Maybe that would be a good place for this meet too! I understand it's a little tricky to find, can only access it from one set of elevators in midship, lol it will be an adventure!

the cases come out for me today, and the packing will start tomorrow in the effort to stop the kids wearing everything that I want to pack. the weather has taken a dramatic turn today from very wet to blistering hot for the next few days.....and they want to wear their holiday clothes!!!! Nooooooo lol

See you real soon

Go for it! My suitcases are out! I have two pieces of luggage on my dining table, and as I wash clothes that we will wear on the cruise, I fold them right into their suitcase. My dining room looks like a laundry mat.

I usually mail my FE gifts to the port, and they are waiting for me in my stateroom.

List looks good.

I pack sundresses. It can be a cover-up for pool time; for a great casual day look, you can wear it with a pair for flip-flops, and finally, glam the sundress up with jewelry and sandals, and you are ready for the evening. So just add one sundress to the list, and you have three different looks.
