We're going to Hollywood Studios on Friday, 2/2. We've never watched Fantasmic before and I want to make sure to see it. I haven't fastpassed it and don't plan to (unless there are FPs left at the end of the day after i've used my others), but I'm curious how far in advance we need to show up for seats? It looks as if there's only one show that night.

I've thought about doing the VIP seating dessert party just so we have a guaranteed seat, but I'm wondering if that's necessary? We're not doing a dining package because we don't have the dining plan this trip. Any advice is appreciated!

you might get a fastpass once you are in the park, look into the app. The theater is huge try to be there at least 30 minutes before. Good luck!

You're not guaranteed a seat from the dining package if you show up too late

You can likely get it as a 4th FP.

Whether you do standby, FP, or dining package, you'll want to arrive 45-60 min prior to showtime for best choice of seats

I asked a similar question for the same time frame. Consensus was that you could probably skip the FP and do standby 30 to 45 minutes prior to showtime.

We ended up booking the dessert party mainly because we have lunch at noon and don’t want to eat dinner there. So I figured the dessert party would give us food and drink, and a guaranteed seat.

I'm so tempted to do the dessert party. it's not very expensive and I think it would be fun. But I'm on the fence because we're doing a couple of other big-ticket add-ons. I need to decide!

Yeah, I decided not to look at the total cost of this trip! This was one of the less expensive things we added on.

Did the price of the VIP dessert go up recently? Could have sworn when I looked last year it was $24.. now it's $40.

we don't like the restaurants included in the Fantasmic package(we always do 50's Primetime or Sci Fi), so we do standby and arrive usually about an hour ahead. One of our group goes and gets snacks or dinner, and we sit there and eat while we wait.

In the past, we have gotten counter service food about an hour before Fantasmic, gotten in line, and had our supper while in line waiting. Eating made the wait seem a lot shorter.

I don't understand how you could be standing in line at just under an hour before show-time and be in that line long enough the eat supper.
It would be very unusual for there to be a backed-up line that long before show-time.

Was this for a "second show" of the evening?

Sorry, that was kind of confusing huh. Yes, indeed, we always do the second show, so there is a pretty decent wait to get in when you get there early.

Agreed.
The way they load the second show is substantially different than the loading of the first (or only) F!
That's because they are still cleaning the theater after the guests exit from the first show.

We are going to see fantasmic for the first time 2/28 so I have a lot of the same questions as you. We do have the dining plan but will be using our ts meal at Epcot for lunch. I don’t want to add the dessert party so I think we will just have to show up an hour early. Is backlot a good place for a qs dinner?

Good idea because it's not a dessert party, it's advertised as a dessert and viewing experience. Guests pick up a snack box with sweet and savory items. Then they pick up a drink and are directed to a reserved viewing area within the theater. There isn't a party area with tables and chairs. That's why it's about half the price of the actual dessert parties at MK, Epcot and DHS.

Oh okay. I really didn’t read much about it. We are already doing dah so I really can’t add anymore costs. We will either get a 4th FP for it or wait early in line. If we are able to get a FP how early should we show up?

We will be doing Epcot first and then would like to try to hit toy story, tot, and rnrc before fantasmic. Not sure if we should try getting FPs for those or fantasmic.

There are also concession stands inside the F! theater selling "ballpark" kind of foods.
(Hot Dogs, Popcorn, etc.)

Try to get FP's for F! on your way to the F! theater.
I've done that more than once.

If you’re there at least a half hour prior you should be ok, but keep in mind there are more people attending this show now because of all of the construction at Studios. With so few attractions open, this tends to fill faster than in the past. This was at least our experience when we were here in November.

We have a qs meal to use anyway since we have the dining plan so we will probably still go to a normal qs restaurant.

Do you think we will be able to get a 4th FP for tsm, tot or rnrc? Our last FP at Epcot is at 12:15. We are taking our 9 yo niece and I’m not sure which she would want to ride the most.

Are you saying half an hour with a FP or without?
