I was looking for things to do while on my solo trip and on several websites I see mentioned a Fantasmic dinner pkg where you can watch the show at special seating after you have eaten at select restaurants (my choice would be Hollywood & Vine, personally).
I am not sure when that is going on though?
I looked on the park hours on disneyworld.com and then clicked on each day during my upcoming trip and the only things I see even closely related to that is the Fantasy fireworks? Is that the same thing?
I know that might sound like a stupid question. But I'm not sure if the websites talking about the Fantasmic dinner pkg are related to the Fantasy fireworks or some other show called Fantasmic and that isn't going on anymore or atleast not this month?

Also everything I have read says that you can't book PS for fantasmic dinner pkg by calling the "dine" number with WDW. Is that true or not? Otherwise it says to get PS for this through guest relations at the resort or calling the restaurant directly. Well how do I do that? I can't find the number for Hollywood & Vine anywhere and I really don't want to wait till I get there to book this. Besides, it says 7 days notice atleast- it just wouldn't work on my almost 9 day trip- yanno?

Any help about this?
TIA

Thank you for trying to help but I'm not sure I understand still. I found the fantasmic info (as you showed a link in your post about) on the disneyworld.com website but wasn't sure if it's the same as "fantasy fireworks" because if it isn't- it isn't planned for Jan when I look at the park hours and click on events/entertainment.
If it IS the same (which I think it probably is)- then that does answer my question about that. But the other link you showed- that thread has me all confused. Is it or is it not saying that you have to reserve 7 days notice but ONLY from guest relations once you get there? Well, that sure doesn't help people that aren't staying there more than a week or two. :(

Let me see if I can help. Fantasmic! is a show at MGM. It shows every night at closing time. It's certainly a must see, there's fireworks and all sorts of special effects. Disney has come up with this Fantasmic Dinner Package some people use to sort of guarantee seating. You can call that dinning number to book it, you'll eat then get a "ticket/pass", take the pass to a special entrance to the show and you'll get a seat in a special section of the bleachers that is roped off.

However, the show is free and you don't have to book the dinning package to see it...you can just walk into the entrance down by Tower of Terror. In January, a slow time, I wouldn't bother with the package at all because Disney jacks the price of the dinner and you end up paying for the show. We didn't use the package in October and had no problems getting a seat. Just get there about 45 minutes early. You can still eat at Hollywood & Vine, a restaurant also at MGM, without the package, then just walk on in the show and save yourself about $15 or so.

You keep saying "fantasy in the sky" but that is a fireworks show at Magic Kingdom. Fantasmic! is a different show all together at MGM Studios.

Whatever you decide to do, don't miss Fantasmic! Some (myself included) thinks this is the best show at Disney. Hope this explains it for ya! Have fun!

Maybe I can help a little...

Fantasmic is a show at the Disney-MGM Studios park, while Fantasy in the Sky fireworks is at the Magic Kingdom park. You were probably looking at the calendar for the Magic Kingdom and not Disney-MGM Studios.

Fantasmic occurs every night (times vary) at the Hollywood Theater at Disney-MGM Studios and you can purchase a dinner package for it, to give you a reserved seat for it. (If you don't get a dinner package, then you would need to arrive about an hour ahead of time to get a decent seat.) I believe the dinner package can only be reserved the day of at Disney-MGM Guest Relations (someone correct me here if I'm wrong) so you don't need to worry about advanced reservations. For a few months they were taking advanced reservations on the dining line, but that was just a trial and has since ended.

I hope this helps some...

I think I read somewhere that the Fantasmic dinner package was being tested through the end of December or January. I believe the only way to book this now is at the restaurant or resort 7 days in advance. I am sure that someone will clear this up for you.

Thanks!
Just want to let everyone know that while making PS arrangements on the Disney "dine" number for breakfastosaurus I asked about the Fantasmic dinner pkg and they WERE able to make that reservation for me!!!! (confirmation # and everything)
So I guess they are doing it differently now.
So far I have booked breakfastosaurus and Fantasmic Dinner pkg (at Hollywood & Vine) and I'm looking forward to having things "planned" this time... since our last trip was so spur of the moment we arrived without any PS arrangements at all! We also never saw Donald the entire time- so that is why I picked Breakfastosaurus.

Hmm, I could have sworn I clicked on MGM studios when I asked for park hours on disneyworld.com but apparently I didn't! I'm such a dork sometimes...... LOL
