We are planning a trip to Disney in late November. I have a couple questions about Fantasmic. First of all would it be scary for an almost 4 year old little girl? We went last year and the Voyage of the Little Mermaid gave her nightmares so I don't want to repeat that experience. Second, I know it goes at night, does anyone know what time during November? I believe the park closes at 7pm. We are going to do the dinner package to get preferred seating but I am wondering what time to make our reservations. I have posted a couple things before and have received the best response so thanks for all your help!

Fantasmic is intense and a little scary--my 3yr old son didn't cry but was scared by the huge dragon that is in the show. I can see it causing nightmares if your child is prone to them. We've never done the dinner pkg so I can't help you there. It is an awesome show and has become a must do for us.

If she was scared during Voyage of the Little Mermaid, then I would say yes, it will be too scary for her. I know a lot of people don't think it is scary and even though good wins in the end, I still think the show is too scary for younger kids.

I think the scary elements are the big snake and the witch. However, my family is conservative. We don't watch things with ghosts or witches. My boys are afraid of the Haunted Mansion. Even my Dh when he first saw the show commented that it would be scary for younger kids.

It is very lous and very intense and I was concerned about how my grandson would handle it. That said, the first time we brought him to Fantasmic he had turned 3 just 3 months earlier and he slept thru the whole show. We him back a few weeks ago at age 4 1/2 and he loved it so much he wanted to go back the next night to see it again.

The first time we saw Fantasmic, I was really surprised at how intense it was. My kids were a bit older (8 and 12 at the time, I think) and even though they weren't scared, they were surprised and actually jumped at times. I don't think either one of them would have enjoyed it at 4 years old, and my daughter definitely would have had bad dreams! But every child is different. The good thing is that you can always hold your child on your lap and let her cuddle if she does get scared.

We did do the dinner package one time and had reservations at 4:30, which worked out good for us. That day we had a filling breakfast, a light snack in the early afternoon, and we were ready for a good meal by 4:30.

have fun!

My kids are very timid, and the show is pretty scary, but I was surprised that none of them had trouble with Fantasmic. We went last summer when they were 9, 5, and 2, and even the the 2 year-old loved Fantasmic. These are kids who are scared on Haunted Mansion, too. I think they were so impressed by the show that the scary parts were manageable for them. My 5 year-old clutched my arm a couple of times, but it really wasn't a problem.

When I have friends go, though, I do always make a point to tell them it's scary. I could see a kid being very afraid of the big snake/dragon in particular.

It's a tough call!

As for times, I don't remember what time our reservation was when we did the dinner package. I remember asking the CM on the phone what would be a good time, and we just went when she said and it all worked out fine. It was quite nice to walk in to that reserved section when the rest of the place was already standing-room-only.

Have fun!

We did the dinner package last year when my DS was 3 & my DD was 4 the package was booked 2hrs before the show which gave us plenty of time to eat and get to our seats (right at the front!) Both of them really enjoyed it DS did jump when the dragon came out but was cheering by the end.

A bit of advice a friend gave before we went to WDW was to see how they reacted to films like Beauty & the Beast, Snow White (because of the witch) and Sleeping Beauty (the witch & the dragon) even though the characters are not there with you it can help to give you an idea to how they would react if they see them in the show.

I agree it can be scary for little ones but you know your little one best if she is frightened by these films then I would give it a miss this time. There is still plenty more to do there have you thought of the Family Magic tour, that was a big hit with my two as well especially as it was Peter Pan & Wendy on ours! pirate:
Hope you have a magical time!! :wave2:

I think this show could be really scary for little kids because of the noise and the intensity. We didn't take my Dd4 because she was scared of the fire effects and the noise during Illuminations the night before. We had FIL take her back to the hotel pool for a nice relaxing swim instead. If your child is at all afraid of fire, be warned that there is one point when the lagoon part of the theater is covered in flames. Dd is ok with our fireplace, or a campfire, but flames (apparently) out of control are more than she can handle.
