Fantasmic -- yes or no

Trying to decide about Fantasmic. DD is 3 (will have just turned 4 at time of next trip) -- will this be too intense for her. I originally thought no but last night reread Unofficial Guide and second guessed my position. Also, will DH hate me for having to wait so long for a 25 minute show?

I LOVE Fantasmic and my son loved it as well when he was three. There are some loud booms so if she doesn't like fireworks then maybe you ought to skip it this time. It is my FAVORITE show in WDW so I'd recommend going if you can. Also, are you going during peak season? If not, don't get there as early as they recommend. 20-30 minutes early is sufficient.

YES, YES, YES. Once we took our DD3 to Fantasmic, it became our absolute FAVORITE in all of Disney World. We would miss Wishes to make sure we got to see Fantasmic. Our daughter is now 6, and our son is 12, and they love fantasmic. Do NOT miss this show.

Would you do the Fantasmic Dinner Show or not -- we would much rather eat at Prime Time (for the experience not the food)? Trying to juggle ADRs and everything you know. We are going 12-14 thru 12-20. What do you think about Sunday night or should we move visit to MGM to weekday?

The dinner package is a good idea. You get the reserved section and don't have to wait an hour or more for your seat.

Hands down, 100% YES!! It's one of my favorite parts of Disney and a completely magical show. :)

My children are young too..My DD4 and DS 20mos. I was very skeptical on Fantasmic too for them. But the more I heard about it, the more I wanted to see it. So, I booked the Fantasmic package and we are eating dinner in the Brown Derby. This way, we don't have to wait on a long line to see the show and if I have to walk out because the kids are scared, at least we got a good meal!! ;)

We just got back from our trip yesterday and I would definitely say YES to Fantasmic! I have a 2 year old who was afraid on alot of the rides but LOVED Fantasmic. We also did the dinner package so it was better than waiting in line for a seat.

Yes! Go! My girls have loved it from that age on.

If you are doing a sit down meal anyway..do the pkg. If you don't want to spend the $$ and just want counter service, I would hit Fantasmic early in the week. That time of the year we usually walk in 30 mins or less before the show and still get great seats.

If you want good seats in the reserved section you will still have to be there 30 mins before show time.

My DS8 has done fantasmic since he was 18 months old and my DD14 has done it since she was 3 years old. It is our favorite show. The ending has characters on boats. The music is great although it does get dark and the music more intense during the middle of the show.

Fantasmic is also my favorite show of all! My DD's first time seeing it was on her first trip just before she turned 3, and she loved it. At that age, I wondered if it would be too intense for her too, she was very timid (wondering where that child is now!) I recall her covering her ears at some of the louder parts, but overall, she was just excited to see so many of her favorite characters all at once.

I also think the FDP is a great way to go to cut your wait time. Good luck!

We did Fantasmic last December with DS2 and DS4, and they seemed to really like it. DH and I thought it was amazing. We are now planning a trip for this December and DS4 (just turned 5) says that he will only go back if we don't do Fantasmic, he says it gave him bad dreams. I don't get it, because in December he seemed to really enjoy it. We did do the FDP and were glad that we did, we had dinner at MM, and went and got our seats and were waiting for the show to start sitting down instead of standing in line.

I would definetly go! :thumbsup2 First I think that it is far enough away that a child wouldn't get too scard and there is water between him and the show. If he gets scared at some parts just put him in your lap and tell him to close his eyes and it will be over soon, yes we did that to our DD when she was 4 during HM, I know I am probably a horrible mom but we had not seen it for years. Second if they are having two showings of Fantasmic go to the second showing, not as crowded. :sunny:

YES!!!! My kids have done this show every time we have been. We have taken 6mos. olds to 14 yr olds!!! They also serve snack type food in the arena where you watch fantasmic. Hot dogs, chiken wraps, popcorn, etc... So we usually eat "dinner" while we are waitng for the show to start.

 me, :smooth: dh, princess: dd14, princess: dd10, pirate: ds4, princess: dd5 mos

I would also have to yes I think he would be fine seeing the show. It really is a great show.

My 4 yo dd does not like fireworks. She enjoyed this show. We went to the 10:30 show. We got to MGM at 9:30 and shopped then lined up around 10 and waited maybe 10 minutes before being seated. Not crowded at all--was worth waiting to go later. We had left the park and gone back to our Fort Wilderness cabin for dinner and relaxing and everyone was refreshed and enjoyed the show.

I'd have to say yes. Defenatly. I was seated by a bunch of little kids and they LOVED it. It was so cute.

I too, say YES YES YES! We always go to the candy shop (Villains or something) and load up on junk food (choc covered strawberries, pretzels, candy, cotton candy, etc) and eat our way through the wait!! It is DD8's favorite thing to do and has been for many years. I think the chocolate covered strawberries could have something to do with it... :p

Yes!

I'd get the dinner package though. We show up at the last minute suggested and always find good a view in the reserved section. They open up the rest of the reserved section just prior to the beginning of the show. It's nice to not have the long wait. IMO, you can sit on the side (not the center) and still get a great view. Sure beats not waiting in lines or showing up a half hour or more beforehand.

It can be kind of scary for young kids. All of the villians make an appearance on the water, and there is a huge snake and dragon involved. Sort of scary, but if you talk your kiddo through it by pointing out which movies they are from, they will probably be fine. Our DS(2) loves it, but each child is different.
