Fantasmic without the Dragon

The dragon has always seemed to be an integral part of Fantasmic. Out of curiosity, with the dragon now working, how does the show handle the part where the dragon would be? What does Mickey vanquish?

We were there Sunday, the day after Murphy went down. Maleficient "grew" on a platform and was probably 20-30 feet up in the air and Mickey slayed her, the dragon was shown in the water animation. My girls loved it, though it was their first time and didn't know any different. But I did warn them that there wouldn't be the cool dragon that they saw on the DL site.

Sounds like pretty much the same way they did it before the debut of the new dragon who wasn't always around :) Still an awesome show. The new dragon just made it even better.

I have seen F! 3 times, and have yet to see the dragon (we call him Murphy, as in the law) in action. Every time I go he seems to have some sort of malfunction, but the show goes on.

Last Saturday I did get to see Murphy, only he was on stage getting fixed while they announced the second show had been canceled. I had not planned on seeing F! on this quick trip, but after the fireworks (and the first show) I suggested to my son. It was then that Murphy broke down.

Do you think I might be the cause of the frequent malfunctions? :badpc:
Or could it be that he is just afraid of me? :darth:

I'm wondering if my non-refundable dessert seaqting tix can be refunded since Murphy isn't working...

I highly doubt it. That's why they are non-refundable. I could maybe see it happening if the show was cancelled, but as the show goes on I don't see it happening. They were doing the dessert seating long before Murphy was added to the mix.

Yeah, it is just wishful thinking on my part. I am so bummed that we don't get to see the halloween screams fireworks show, aladdin, and tsmm that seriously, Murphy not working is barely bothering me at all.

I know the feeling. I'm still holding onto hope that it wont be months and months before she's back. With all that happened last Summer we got lucky and she was back the weekend before our trip even though I was almost certain it wouldn't happen. But it is a drag with TSMM, Aladdin, and all of that. But such is the price to pay when not going during the summer. Blech.

I have it on good authority that Murphy will be back up on September 22--exactly one day before my family and I arrive.

Seriously though, we didn't go to Disneyland last summer so I haven't seen Murphy yet. I was excited for this trip to see all the little plusses that Baxter and crew have added to the park (IASW, castle walkthru, ROA, Mr. Lincoln, and Murphy.) So I was quite bummed to hear of Murphy's fall.

That would end up being more like the 24th since there wont be any Fantasmic on a Wednesday night ...

I'm curious what is this good authority? What failed and what is being done to fix it?

I hope since F! is not showing M-Th that they are working fast to get it done before the Halloween Season begins. Cough cough, when I'm there to see her preform.

My family and I were lucky when we saw F! last September. We were able to see Murphy breath fire (evidently for the first time ever), and got to see her the next night doing her thing again. Hopefully she will be back in her true form soon.

with out the big dragon fanstimic will differt cuz the dragon in the end was azming i saw for the frist time on aug 29

Wow, it broke again? Last year we were there the night the new Fantastmic opened, (and it was freakin' packed) but that was right when the thing had broken during testing. So we saw Mal on a stick as someone else posted.

Luckily we saw the Dragon work perfectly 3 weeks ago during our trip. It was pretty darned awesome I gotta say.

You just made it. Here is some news on the failure:
