So how is the theatre set up? How early can you go in before the show? We are thinking about just grabbing a quick service meal, and then parking it in some seats. Is eating in this area NOT allowed? :confused3 I have never been to MGM before so I am not familiar with the set up? :confused3 How far in advance do you have to be there to get decent seats? Any other info would be great! Thanks!

We always plan to eat our evening "meal" IN the Fantasmic! theater.
They have "baseball stadium"-type concession stands IN the theater.
We have a hot dog and a giant pretzel and some soft drinks in our seats as we wait. (There's even beer, sold strictly one-at-a-time, one-to-an-adult).
Just outside the theater entrance is the large "food court".
You are allowed to carry in food from there as well, but remember that its a LONG WAY up the sidewalk from there to the theater itself.
The theater is "opened" about 60-90 before show-time and guests can just walk into the theater and pick a seat.

Entering about an hour before show-time is a great "rule-of-thumb" for any time of year.
If its a BUSY park, you'll still find good seats at that time.
If its a lower-attendance time, you'll find GREAT seats (front-row or really ANYWHERE) by an hour before.

If there's a SECOND show of the evening, if you arrive a hour early there WILL be a "line".
That's because they hold guests back from entering while the CMs clean the theater after the first show.
But don't worry, once they start letting guests enter, the theater will not be full by any means. The second show virtually never "sells out" even when the park is busy.

Just to echo what Robo said...

The theater is HUGE! It holds 9,900 people. We always try to sit near the top near the entrance/exit so we can get outta there when it's over.

You can stop at the Sunset Ranch food court before heading in and grab a bite to eat, then take it with you to the theater and have a meal while you are waiting for the show to start.

Usually what we do is, the old and the young stay in the theater and save seats and the rest of us take another whirl on TOT and RRC.
