Fantasmic! Show Discussion Thread

Wouldn't be great if Disney paid us back for taking it away for 18 months by having it everynight for the rest of the year?!?! Seems only fair.

So Peter Pan and snow white Are both gone? Does that include the dwarves when they used to be on the river boat at the end? Those were our two favorite things in the whole show. It's so hard to see the dwarves anywhere else.

I'm at River belle for the package. Sat outside. Told us we had to clear out by 7 for the people with the outdoor package.

Thanks for the updates. That is helpful to know for booking there if you get the non premium! Excited to hear about the rest of your evening!

Can anyone report how the view was from river belle terrace premium package where you get to sit there during show?
Yes I'm wondering about this as well! I have it booked for my DD and I next month so very curious to hear some feedback.

I got to watch the soft-opening on Sunday, and stayed to watch both the 9 and 10:30 showings. As a HUGE fan of Fantasmic! (I seriously considered not renewing my pass during the 18 month dark period...) I know the old show by heart. I used to visit Disneyland once a week after work, just to watch Fantasmic!
Watching the new show through, the first time, I definitely felt a sense of discomfort when the music didn't make the transitions that I expected it to. But! I did enjoy many of the additions and improvements. I would say that any disappointment or distaste I had, for much of the show, was due to it simply being different.
However, I did not like the changes to the scene on the Columbia. The Peter Pan segment is my favorite, and I thought it was humorous, had a bit of a story to it, and it made sense. The Pirates of the Caribbean scene, however, had none of these qualities (IMHO). I found myself actually cringing every time Elizabeth screamed "Jack!" because it was so annoying. I almost couldn't watch this segment the second time around.

Good to see that Disney makes changes to show and updates it. Did anybody catch the part where Belle stumbled two steps but Beast was their hardly noticeable. You can see it LMG video youtube @15.00 time.

The Rapunzel part did the same twirl and lift parts that Snow White did guess they wanted to go more contemporary since Rapunzel has recent movie etc. Liked the singers in original better.

The pirates segment in original seemed like it more action on entire ship.

Surprised Disney Parks blog did not live stream like other events.

The WDWINFO/DIS team was in the parks and recorded the show in 4K. I linked their Youtube video in the first post.

It was Fantasmic! I was not a big fan originally. It didn't have all the pizazz and wow it could have. Now it does. Really well done, worth seeing for sure.
I would suggest not watching it on YouTube prior to going. Be surprised by the changes. Some old favorites are there, so it's not a complete overhaul.

You can no longer just stroll up and watch. It's going to be super crowded for a while. They announced that all viewing areas were full. People were wedged into every nook and cranny available. It was packed.
Try to be as close to the middle as possible. Floats and Mark Twain don't light up along the sides for a bit. The main Pirate show takes place in the middle.

Very disappointed with the replacement of the Peter Pan ship scene. And it makes no sense. Fantsdmic! is supposed to be Mickeys imagination. It makes no sense mickey is imagining of Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth. In my opinion a very bad move on Disney's part. Just give them their own show.

I never seen Fantasmic, i always go for WOC , was going to do the dessert package for WOC as we can sit ( my mum would not be able to stand ) .
I am now considering the dining package - where people have said they can sit in the reserved areas is that on a chair or on the ground ? I think I should do the RBT prem package , also what's on the menu ?

ABC live streamed it on Facebook yesterday.

Really annoying that they replaced the classic pan sword fight with a dying fad of a franchise with the main character just stumbling around literally doing nothing.

I'm not happy they replaced snow white, but apparently the kids today dont know snow white as well. Not sure why they had to re-record everything though.

We're watching tonight in the reserved river belle section. Should we try to be at the rail? Do you get wet? Or is middle preferred, even if we're not up front?

I agree! I LOVED the original soundtrack! And I really didn't like the Pirates scene at all compared to the Peter Pan scene!

If you're taking photos or video, further back is better because of the rails. If not, it doesn't matter. I've sat right in front of the rail before and you do get a little damp. It's not that bad since it's summer though. I've done it even in the winter and it wasn't bad at all. Please post back where you were and how you liked it. :) I'm going next week and got River belle Premium because they were out of Blue Bayou premium.

Please report back with your experience! I also have a River Belle Premium but I'm not going until August and I'm very interested to see what people think about this option.
