fantasmic seating?

Here's some pictures I took last week on DL's birthday.

This is a view of sections B & C, where section B is by the center light tower, in front of Cafe Orleans, and section C is by the light tower on the far end, and in front of the Haunted Mansion entrance.

This is a view of the area where the podium will go. The podium usually arrives around 7:30, and they will not take any reservations until 8pm.

I believe that this is the VIP section now. It has a reserved sign hanging from the rope. Section B for the premium seating is just beyond the tower.

Here is the handicapped area. It is near the light tower on the right as you face the island.

FYI, they ran out of bags the night we were there. Fortunately, DH keeps a plastic grocery bag in his backpack to wrap his cell phone and camera in when he rides water rides like Splash Mountain. It really came in handy!

Which seating is better or is there a big difference between B and C, we just made ressies this morning and no mention of which section or wristbands for Aug. 2. TIA!

Great idea! We, too, carried our boxes around afterwards, as there is no way we could finish all the goodies.

Thanks for the pics, MJ!

I'm curious as well - which section is better - B or C? Or are they basically the same, just one is on the left and the other on the right?

In my opinion, B is better because it's more centered.

We're going there this Tuesday for the 10:30 show with my cousins, and I hope to get section B.

When we checked in, we asked the CM's where the best seating is and they recommended B because it is really centered in front of the stage. The only problem we had was the front row seats were all taken. But, with a little more conversation with the CM's we discovered that the furthest 2 seats were a little girl (6) and her mom and so we decided row 2 would work for us. I am short and DH is tall, so I sat behind the little girl and DH sat behind the mom (who wasn't very tall, either). It worked out really well for us and the CM's were very helpful. They also stagger the seating so you are looking over shoulders and not just at the back of someone's head.

The CM's have a map and show you which seats are still available when you check in and they number your tickets so you know where your seats are. Then when you come back to wait for the show, they just take you right to your seats and give you your dessert box and whatever you choose to drink.

We stayed and watched the fireworks afterward and it was soooo nice to just sit there. We couldn't see any castle projections, but it was really great not to be smooshed and standing to watch the fireworks. Our CM (Bora) showed us where to look for the fireworks and Dumbo and Tink. It would have been great if we could have seen Dumbo and Tink - but since they didn't fly that night, I guess nobody got to see them. :rolleyes1

I would definitely do Dessert seating again, when my little kids are older. They don't handle scary monster people very well, and would not enjoy most parts of the show. They would love seeing the Columbia and Peter Pan and Hook, and would love Mickey, but the rest of the show would just freak them out.

So when we check in do we just request section B, or do they just assign you as you arrive first come first choice? We plan on getting there at 5 mins. til 8:00pm for the first show.

When you check in you select your seating from what is available. The farther down the line you are the less of a selection you get.

Thanks for the answers to my questions!:goodvibes We're really looking forward to doing this! I already love this show, but we can't wait to do the premium seating and see some of the changes to Fantasmic too.

How early should we get there to check in, and choose our seats?

For the 1st showing they tell you 8Pm we alswys will get there by 630 PM if the podium is set up and then we change off standing in line.

WOW! That's early!!! Is it really necessary to get there that early?

When we went two years ago I showed up at 645 pm and there were 5 people in front of me. We got the last of the front row seats when we checked in. We go mid August and the entire viewing area was jammed, wall to wall bodies. It was my birthday and the CM prior to the show had all of those folks sing me happy birthday..it was very funny but also very weird.

Any idea of if they do this in september? 18th-23rd is when were going

Here I thought we wouldn't need to get there early and wait with premium seating.....:confused3

That's funny about everyone singing happy birthday to you, I would have turned red faced for sure!

It is a roped off area(or 3 areas) of seats that you pay not to sit on the ground or have to save seating for but you still have to check in to get an assigned seat. We like the front row seating which we consider the best view.
The CM was asking those in that section if they were celebrating anything special and my daughter told him it was my birthday. So when he was doing an audience warm up with a microphone he asked how old I was(told him I was 20 years older than I was) and ask the audience to do the birthday bit. I think he thought he could get my goat..wrong..I am to old for that to happened..think he was surprized..it was a good time.

Do you just check in get your assigned seats and they you can leave and come back?

Yep - you check in and then can go and ride something or whatever. DH and I checked in after waiting about 35 minutes and then went and rode Pirates.

We chatted with the people in line around us, it was fun, since you aren't going anywhere, you might as well be friendly. ;)

Once you get the assigned seating you can leave, the CM will tell you when to return. You can not start checking in until 8pm, so does not leave much time. They told us 830pm, we were seated, given the dessert boxes and beverages.
