FANTASMIC seating time

I read somewhere that they let you in the stadium for Fantasmic at MGM 2 hours before the show. Our show is at 8:30 does the place really open to pick seats at 6:30. When should i go sit down on Aug. 23. Can DH save seats while DD and I do Disney PLayhouse first?

I wouldn't count on saving seats. On our first trip, we tried to go in about 30 minutes before show time and it was already "sold out." So we went back another night after making a Fantasmic dinner package ressie. I reccommend that you do that rather than try to save seats and catch up.

Mamma Melrose is our favorite pick of the 3 for which you can get the package (dinner and a pass for a special section of the arena)

I got to be honest.. I had read to be there 1-2 hours before also but we went during spring break and it was PACKED we walked up just minutes before the show started and got seats for a party of 9! Now I dont know if I was just lucky or what, I would ask a CM when you get there. There are CM out infront of the entrance calling people to the show right before it starts, that is how we ended up at the show, I am do glad we did go it was so worth it!

I believe they open the area and let you get in line about 2 hours prior to the show starting but they do not start seating until closer to show time, maybe 30 minutes prior.

If it is only 30 minutes could DH get in line 2 hours before and we meet him an hour later still in line?

It really depends on the crowd. I believe they use the term line rather loosely as the area is a fairly long stretch that is maybe 20 feet across. People start gathering in this area before the show then go through a handful of gates into the stadium. As the "line" area begins to fill up it can be difficult to navigate. If you have cell phones or radios you probably could find each other but without them it may be tough. At least that has been my experience.
