Guess I missed them turning this into Fastpass seating! TERRIBLE
Each year to make this journey. Spend thousands at the park and each year it's a little less magical. You diehards might argue to the bitter end but my goodness.

The FP system actually worked well for us because we didn't have to camp out for hours to get decent seats. I know others swear by the dining packages, but they're stlll too expensive for me. I wish they did it like WOC where there was some lunch pricing!

What didn't you like you about the set up? Did you not get good seats because you didn't know you had to get a FP. I could see where that would be frustrating.

What did you find so terrible about F! seating?

For me Disneyland became more magical when the sea of blankets, towels, assorted clothing and plastic bags was eliminated along ROA many hours before F! begins.

I couldn't agree more! So happy with organized, structured seating.

What's terrible about it? We've been going back and forth on Fantasmic. Is the seating actual seats? It sounded like all viewing spots are now standing. Not having to camp out forever for a spot is rather appealing I will say.

Is the fast pass seating okay or do you really need the dining package to see it well?

I'd like to know this too. Sitting on the ground sucks. i can't imagine they set up thousands of chairs every day.

We loved being able to get a FP for Fantasmic on our last trip. It was actually the first time that we took in the show on any of our trips as the thought of having to camp out for hours before and in such a congested area was not appealing to us.

Anytime we can take advantage of FP to save time we definetly do it

There are no actual chairs. I don't know about regular fastpasses (I've read a great thread with comprehensive reviews here that would be good to check out) but the seating area for the Blue Bayou dining package was fantastic - front and center. Plus a cushion to sit on!

We had a pretty good spot from our dining FP. We entered the area about fifteen minutes early and were front row. They do NOT allow sitting. You have to stand. They did allow small children to sit on some roped off steps.

We had regular FPs and they worked great. We were second row, right by the rail, just slightly right of center.

Was this only for the dining? We had regular FPs and our entire section was allowed/told to sit. There are other areas that are standing only, but not all areas were.

We did Aladdin's. I was vague about that. We were in the blue section and we were told we must stand. People booed the CM. ;)

Ok, my understanding is that those are still regular FPs. I would guess you were too late to get the seated area if you showed up 15 mins early. We lined up about an hour early and ate snacks while we waited. Another note, since I've seen it asked on other threads, they allowed us to have our stroller in the line, but once we got to the seating area they made us move it out to stroller parking.

Well, I'll agree with the original post, though not for the same reason being used. F! seating is truly awful. But that's not because of the blanket city OR the fastpass method of getting seats. Sitting on the ground where 40,000 people just walked across all day is sorty gross. Not to mention, SITTING ON THE GROUND. While I like the FP method a lot more than laying a blanket out 3 hours before the show, it's still sitting on the ground.

For Thundergod, you live in OK. So why not head over to WDW. If the magic is wearing off at DL, you should definitely try out WDW. They are really two separate experiences. And you'll love the seating for F! over there. Just get in line an hour before the event and get a bleacher seat. NICE! And with 4 parks to hit, you won't feel that law of diminishing returns hitting you. It'll be a fresh experience.

I'm not a fan of the FP for F! either. I never had to camp out for he show before. I never had a problem finding a great unobstructed viewing spot 15-30 min before the show started without the FP. To me the FP system for the shows takes away from it because you have to plan a lot more to get there and find a good spot. F! isn't as bad as WOC but it's still more of a hinderance IMO.

There really isn't any other option. That's the drawback of having it on Rivers of America, they can't build a stadium like at DHS. They can't set up chairs everyday, first because of how long that would take to set up and take down twice a night, and because it would just kill the flow of traffic through the area and pretty much reduce show capacity to a fraction of what it currently is. Alas, sitting on the ground is all that's left.

OP - sorry you had such a lousy time at Fantasmic!

That's the thing about DL...it doesn't have all the space that WDW has. So they had to make do and figure out a solution with a limited amount of space. The Fantasmic! blanket city is a big reason why we never went. I don't care much for using up hours of valuable park time sitting down on the concrete to reserve our space. We did it once last month for the Paint The Night parade, but that was just for an hour and a half before the parade started. Now that FP is available, we are considering checking out Fantasmic! on one of our next visits.
