Fantasmic rumors??

Sooooo, we were looking on Disney's website last night at the park hours/show times (late Jan, early Feb) and Fantasmic isn't going to be occuring at all during our trip!! We googled it and got 2 different rumors (because Disney hasn't officially announced anything as far as we can tell). The first is that Fantasmic will no longer exist after the first part of January because they are putting in new attractions....the second rumor is that they are just going to re-do the show somehow and it will re-open again.
Has anyone heard anything yet?? Kind of dissappointed it won't be going on when we're down there for our wedding/honeymoon

Sorry I am not much help as I have no idea if any of that is true. I think it would be incredibly disappointing if they did away with this show as it is definitely my favorite! I am sure someone will swoop in soon and give you the answer you are looking for.

"We have now confirmed that the show will return on February 13 2012 with a performance at 7pm. No word yet on what will be done in the 5 week refurbishment period, but it is suggested that a lot of behind-the-scenes work on the mountain is required."

Oh thank goodness! I was so worried. That's one of my all time favorite things. (It gives me goosebumps every time I watch it.) It's one of the things I really want my guest to see. I was REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hoping to have a fantasmic DP but since they couldn't guarantee what nights and times, and it's so quick to get cancelled I decided to go with a DP at Sago Cay Pointe.

I hope they don't change it too much. I loved it the way it was.

It's funny, I work at DHS and sometimes at Fantasmic, and I hadn't heard ANYTHING about its refurb! The show has been operating practically nonstop for 15 years, and everything about that mountain is custom-made, so parts can't just be re-ordered willy nilly. I think the refurb is overdue, and I am sorry for those guests who don't get to see it on their upcoming winter trips. It's truly my favorite show/fireworks at any of the WDW parks!

Whew! I'm happy that Fantasmic is has an opening date! It's my favorite.

I'm so glad it's not going I love that show I'd be so sad if they got rid of it, like mjshorses that would be my first choice for a DP too
