Hi there. How far in advance would they cancel Fantasmic because of rain? We'll be there Sunday, with a 60% chance of T-storms. Is it potential for rain or actual rain that calls it? Could everyone actually be seated for the show and then removed for rain?

Thanks!

I don't know the answer to this question but I can say we were seated for Fantasmic in September 2007. As we were sitting there and buying lighted toys and chatting, just waiting for showtime, we noticed some dark clouds moving our way. Being a person who is terrified of lightening, I wasn't thrilled about sitting out there on metal bleachers. :scared1:

My teens were snapping pictures of the clouds and there was cloud to cloud lightening going on. (once home, viewing the pics, they were incredible). BUT, the lightening seemed to cease very shortly before showtime so the show went on as planned.

As I sat there watching this display, I wondered when/if they were going to cancel the show. SOOOO... my guess is, there are times it could be a last minute decision.

In 2009 we sat and waited in a full theatre in the pouring rain with thunder and lightning. It was a 9:00 show and i guess Disney waited as long as they could, it was about 9:30 before they finally did a super dumbed down show with only some lights and music. It stunk big time....and it was the last show of the week and we never got to see it. so i guess they wont cancel until they absolutly have to.

We sat waiting for Fantasmic to start in the rain. They announced on the speakers there was a rain delay and the show may be canceled. I could see the lightning in the distance but refused to leave until they announced the show was canceled. We sat there for at least an hour in the rain. I am fairly certain it was after the "start" time of the show that they finally announced the show was canceled due to the weather. We ended up running to the car in a lightning storm.

It is my understanding they have very sophisticated weather tracking systems and keep a close eye on the weather.

I think it depends if it is a lightning storm. I watched the entire full production in a steady rain last March (no thunderstorm)

Oh, yes! :sad1:

It was not asked about, but another unpleasant little bit is that if you have participated in the Fantasmic! Dining Package,
but that evening's F! performance is rained (lightning'ed) out,
there is no "make good" for that package deal.

Sadly, it can happen pretty frequently.

I wouldn't worry to much you're in Florida theres a darn good chance that 60% chance will change as we get closer

Absolutely.

You can ignore most forecasts more than 6-12 hours out,
and even at that,
there can be a deluge at, say, MK
and yet, at the same time, be dry as a dinosaur bone at DHS.

The last time i went with my dad when I was like 12 they cancelled the show due to lightening. There was not rain at all but it still got cancelled.

Kinda like here in Buffalo this morning. Where it was snowing pretty good out my back window, but out the front window there was nothing! ;)

I had the saddest experience last year. I was at Fantasmic with a bunch of teens from my theater group that I run. Being theater people, our love for F! is HUGE. We were watching the show and slight drizzle slowly turned into rain. We were at the climax of the show and right when Malificent goes up to turn into the dragon, she STOPS. The loud speaker comes on to let us know that the show has been cancelled and we all had to exit. Some of the girls in our group (15 and 16 year olds) actually cried. So sad! Luckily we got to go back another night and watch it a 2nd time.
