My husband has never watched Fantasmic! and really wants to see it during our trip in May. I have watched it once but that was many years ago.

We have dining reservations at the Sci Fi restaurant at 5:45pm. I keep hearing that it's a waste to use FP+ for the show, so should we consider doing the dining package or do you think we'll be fine the way it is? The way we have it now, we'll be having dinner and then getting in line. How long do you typically wait?

I would suggest the dining package if you are going to eat a table service at DHS that night. Otherwise, I have done it every time I've gone by just getting in line and have had great seats every time! its a big amphitheater and IMO not a bad seat there. plus if you sit up front, you have a great chance (it'll happen) of getting wet.

Also be aware that the line can look very long to get into the amphitheater, don't fret. it is really big and can fit a ton of people

People suggest being in line an hour or more early. We are more of the wait until closer to time and go, if there are seats great, if not, we go do something else while everyone else is at F! We have never had to do anything else. Have always had seats, but we do go at less crowded times of year.

If it is super important to you, I would do FP+ or the dining package, but from what I understand after a certain point even those areas are open to everyone. Pretty sure you won't be able to eat at the Sci Fi, if you do the dining package, unless that has changed.

We also have a 545 Sci Fi ADR on June trip. We plan to just walk over that way once dinner is over. We are a group of 6 so well prob have 3 wait in line while the other 3 runs to do something close by, then switch off :)

the dining package is the way to go. You still have to get there early, but you will be reserved the a center section. Can't beat that.

i would do the dining plan. we were there once no seats had to stand on a platform in the back a tall bunch of people got in front of us, we couldnt see walked out!!!!!!

FP+ is a total waste...it only guarantees you will be admitted, does not guarantee a seat (and no reserved section for FP+) You could even get there during your assigned time and be told you're in standing-room-only section.

Get the dining package if you can...if you're on the dining plan, Mama Melrose and HOllywood & Vine are one credit, Brown Derby is two credits. Those are the only restaurants that have the dinner package, so your current reservation will not work for Fantasmic. Cash prices...Hollywood & Vine is about $30 per person, Mama Melrose is about $37 per person, Brown Derby is about $55 per person. You do get appetizer/entree/dessert & non-alcohol beverage at Mama Melrose and Brown Derby (you choose from full menu except at Mama Melrose, the dessert is a sampler platter for the table to share.)

But book now, if you can. Do note that you must book one of the three restaurants and must book it as Fantasmic Dinner Package...There may be no spaces left (there is a limited number of reservations at each of those restaurants for Fantasmic package.)

If you cannot get a reservation, do plan on getting to the theater at least an hour in advance of the show. Or go to the 2nd show if there are two shows the night you're there.
