Fantasmic Package Obsession! Help!

I know I'm thinking way too much about this...but I could really use a reality check! Here's my problem. We really like the idea of the Fantasmic package because of the reserved seating. On the other hand, nobody in my family particularly wants to eat at H&V (we already have PS at two dinner buffets--Boma and Cape May Clambake), and Brown Derby is too expensive. Which leaves Mama Melroses, and none of us really wants to eat there. We would eat there--just for the reserved seating--but if it rains and the show is cancelled we've just spent dinner money on a dinner we didn't really want! I know I'm making a big deal about this... so any insight would be appreciated from anybody who has 'been there and done that"! Should we risk the rain and have dinner at Mama's or just eat where we want to eat and resign ourselves to a long wait in line for Fantasmic? Our trip is in 17 days. Thanks to anybody who can help!

Hi Musicmom3,

I just made reservations myself for Hollywood & Vine for the 16th of July to be able to get the package deal for Fantasmic. I asked about what would happen if it rained and was cancelled, would we be able to use the pass to get those seats the next night. If what he told me is right, which I'm finding out that I haven't been getting the right answers for some of the things I've been asking to some people  , then according to him we can use them the next night if the show was cancelled because of the weather. Or you can just call and see if you get the same answer as I did. Anyways, we ate at H&V for lunch about 3 years ago. The buffet was pretty good, seemed to have a good selection of food. So I'm hoping for the best for this one. Have fun on your trip. We'll probably be there around the same time.

Hi! When I asked about rain, I was told that sometimes, but not always, a voucher is given for the following night. Maybe we'll both get lucky and have wonderful weather! I've heard good things about H&V myself...it's just that 3 buffet dinners would definitely be a little too much for my waistline....

:) Yes, I agree with you on the wonderful weather part. That's really what I'm hoping for. I know what you mean about the 3, H&V is 19.95 for adult buffet, I asked about it when I booked. I'm not sure how many more I'll book. We're gonna be on our Honeymoon and my birthday is the 15th, so I have 2 things to celebrate......maybe I'll splurge for one more PS, but then it's eating cheap for us after that. I'm wanting to be able to go back next year and bring the kids and my mom again. Gotta watch my spending:eek: !!!

It rained on the night that we had booked our FDP at Brown Derby. I thought we were out of luck but we were told that the vouchers were good for the rest of the week because of the weather :)

I just wanted to say we ate at Mama Melroses for the package also and were very happy with our meal. My dh is italian and will only eat homecooked sauce and he enjoyed his manicotti. The kids and I liked our dinners too.

I travel with three older kids and we go on what I only half-jokingly call the "Disney Diet"! Lots and lots of walking, a few great dinners, one mandatory Mickey ice cream bar a day, but other than that--eating cheap is the rule of the day! I guess I'll just wait in line for Fantasmic....can't have everything!

LOL!!! Yeah, I know what you mean, I've been on a few of those that you call "Disney Diets". The Mickey Bar is definitely a once a day mandatory for me also. You can bet I have budgeted that one in my plans. Have a good & safe trip!!!

We ate at the H&V and it was a good choice for my kids and for us. Prime rib was better than at Boma. We ate at Boma several times as well. The food at H&V was very good and the kids really liked it. We did Mama Melrose last time and my kids didn't like it very much and I really didn't either.

About the rain!!! The night we went it was POURING rain that started about 7 pm. It rained a lot while we were there. When we went into the gate they didn't collect the voucher.

BUT!! when we went into the seating area they took our voucher from us so there would have been no way to get in on another night. I was so bummed when he had the Disney bag taking out green slip :(

We sat in the rain from 8:15 till 9:00 and the show did go on!! We were so happy! It stopped raining about 8:55 and really slowed way down about 8:45. Wait till they actually call it off before you leave. I asked a CM and he told me the fact that they were playing the "show will start in 15 minutes" messages was a good sign.

Also, we had 99 cent ponchos from Target which were great for walking around, but that night I bought the yellow Mickey ones. It made a huge difference.
