Hi--I am brand new to the boards and excited to be starting to plan our family's second trip to WDW. Our first was in 2012, and we enjoyed free dining. We'd love to add the dining plan to our trip again, but since it won't likely be free, I need to crunch some numbers to see if it will save us or at least be close. There are a few restaurants/experiences we would like to participate in again, because we enjoyed them so much.
First, When we went in 2012, there was a Fantasmic! light show/dinner package that was counted as 2 meals per guest. I am not seeing it in the description of the 2016 Dining plan--is that something where we'd have to make our ADRs for the meal, and buy tickets for the show separately?
Second, I saw the fantastic sticky post with prices for the buffets/BBQ/character dining--that's fantastic! Is there a similar post or place to get prices (ball park, even) for Quick service restaurants and snacks (particularly the ice cream parlors and ice cream sandwiches). One aspect of having the dining plan, which was priceless to us, was for my husband and I to not have to say "no" to our kids for ice cream and fun snacks--we're frugal in general (my husband would admit that he is something of a penny pincher), and to be free to say "yes" to each of our kids every day was huge!
Thanks for having me--looking forward to learning lots! Oh, our trip will be in August for our 20th Anniversary!
