Hi,
I have dinner package reservations for may 6 for fantasmic and just heard May 6 will Spectro. I will be going to WDW May3 thrue the 10th and Spectro will not be showing any other night. Which one would you do?

wondering too....
We have seen Fantasmic twice, but never spectro magic.....How early do you have to get there to get a spot? Does it do same route as day time parade? How long is parade? Is it REALLY worth it?

Hi Guys! Now this is just my opinion, and I am sure that this is going to go both ways. I think if time allows both are really great!
Fantasmic is more of a choreographed show with lazers. Spectro is a really great parade with all those special characters we love to see. I am more into that warm fuzz feeling you get when you see the characters that you and your children associate with Disney on these beautifully lit floats. I was mesmerized last summer watching a little girl sitting next to us at Specto. Her eyes were bright, and she had a smile that makes a person remember what it was like to be young and innocent. I would pick Specto hands down. Fantasmic is a really close second choice for me.

can you see fantasmic another night and still catch spectro? if i had the choice...i'd choose fantasmic, but it all depends on what you like. :)

I am hoping they add spectromagic Sat. may 3.

That will not happen, it's a Grad Night. Grad Night's are April 25, 26, May 2, 3, 9. The park closes early and reopens later for the Grad Night Party (private party for graduating seniors).

I would try to change your Fantasmic Dinner Package and see both. Given a choice, I'd rather do Spectromagic. You could also try to see Fantasmic without the package. We saw it during the week around that time last year and the stadium did not fill up until about 30 minutes before.

joloco - it runs opposite of the daytime parade. It starts in Town Square and ends in Frontierland.

deirderefitch,
I am over 50 and that's exactly how I look during Spectro!!
I also love Fantasmic. If you've seen Fantasmic before and never seen Spectro, go see Spectro. If you can see Fantasmic a different night, then make those arrangements. We were there July 7-12 last summer and managed to find a space right at the curb in Town Square about 15 minutes before Specro began. We really lucked out!

We are in the same position. We had planned Fantasmic for May 1st but now there will be Spectro on May 1st so we moved Fantasmic to May 2nd. Really don't want to miss either of them. They are both worth the time and effort. You should be okay if you get to the parade route about 1 hour ahead of time. Spectro usually runs the opposite way of the afternoon parade. It starts by Main Street and ends near Splash Mtn.

I have seen both and they are wonderful to see , however I have to say my favourite is Fantasmic.

I am always of the opinion to try to get it all in--I never do though. Spectro is my favorite parade. If you have never seen it --you must. Another good area for viewing is in Frontierland. I agree with some of the other posts. Try to change the dinner package if you can to another night. Fantasmic is great! If you can't change the package, pick another night to do a really nice dinner. Or do a priority seating for a nice dinner the night of Spectro. Just be sure to get your PS time at least 2 hours before the parade--maybe 2 1/2 and make sure the restaurant is either in the park or at a monorail resort.

If you have seen Spectro and plan on going to WDW again soon maybe keep the dinner package for Fantasmic and think of missing Spectro as a sacrifice you had to make this time around. Then next time you go make sure you see Spectro then--it will be that much more special.

Basically, the choice is between weather you'd prefer to see a parade or a show. They're both wonderful, but they're quite different experiences. The advantage of a parade is the characters are right there in front of you. Some of them walk alongside the floats and interact with guests which is fun. Fantasmic is a spectacular show though and with that one you get bleachers to sit on rather than a curb. It's hard for me to say how early to snag a seat for Spectro because as a college girl, I've never been at the parks with more than just a friend or two and never had a lot of problems finding a good spot at the last minute. For a family, it would be more difficult.

Since Fantasmic is shown every night, I would change my PS to another night and go to Spectro.

That being said, I prefer Fantasmic to Spectro...

Thank you all!!
I decided to see both. I am now doing some park jumping. Monday 5/5 we will be going from epcot to dinner at Mamma Melrose dinner show and catching Fantasmic. And on 5/5 we will be going from MGM to MK to catch Spectro Magic.

The spectro magic parade is cool but nothing special.Fantasmic is my favorite show.It has to be seen everytime we go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
