Fantasmic no more???

Okay, folks...I'm just posting what I heard, firsthand, from not one, but THREE cast members over this past weekend. Fantasmic! is being cancelled, retired, put on hiatus, whatever you want to call it (i'm not sure about the DisneyWorld location).

Like I said, I spoke to THREE castmembers who said that the September 1st shows would be the last for who knows how long. If this is old news, then please forgive me. I was completely shocked. I was there the year it debuted and never miss it when I'm at Disneyland.

The castmembers said they had no clue what they were planning on putting in it's place. I'm sure it will be great, but I am terribly sad because Fantasmic! has always been my favorite live show to watch.

Fantasmic is done (under refurbishment) until November. The last showing was tonight.

It's not OVER, just going under a lengthy refurbishment to make it better. Lots of new and exciting stuff happening to our beloved F! over the next year.

Geez, why do so many CMs always seem to scare people to death? I think half of them are in their own little world. F! isn't going away, but it IS going down for a lengthy refurb.

F! is going down for refurb Sept. 2 to Nov 6th. It will be back up for the holiday season, then it's going down again to finish the refurb before spring. They are replacing the water screens (supposed to be about a thousand times clearer!) and installing new lighting and laser equipment.

Considering how popular it is, I would guess it's not going anywhere for quite awhile.

Okay, in fairness to CMs, what did they do that you two are so upset about? OP said that 3 CMs said,

The CMs told the truth if they said it's on haitus or ending. They went on to say,

...that the September 1st shows would be the last for who knows how long....

Again, they told the truth. If they did not have an entertainment schedule for November in their hands (which I think it's unreasonable to think they would), they provided 100% correct information.

Why are people upset at the Cast Members for giving out true information?

Yes, Fantasmic is down, just like PocahontasLookAlike was told. Shame on CMs for telling the truth?

double dang!!!! I too just noticed that Fantasmic will be closed the one and only Saturday we will be there (November 1). I missed it the last trip to DL and was really looking forward to it. But I suppose I can wait another 2 years, and I suppose by that time it will be even better. But darn it, you know? Oh well, at least POTC will be up and running,

There is a huge difference in being down for refurb, and being down as in never coming back, to be replaced with something else. So really they weren't telling the truth. Just sounds like some very uninformed CM's.

OP didn't say the CMs said it was never coming back.

If you are referring to them saying they don't know what's going in its place, I don't fault a CM for not knowing if something is going to be in place of Fantasmic while it's on hiatus. They can't know what they aren't told.

ok 1 if it were being closed dl would be having riots lol
2 there spending how much on the upgradeing of the f show and the projecters and stuff.. i wish these cm's wouldnt say things like it s for ever..jesse its only till nov.

next christmas when we go we will do the F show special resvation.

Agreed. However, if they OP was told it's it canceled at Sept. 1 or that it is going on hiatus and came back here and posted, "cancelled, retired, put on hiatus," CMs did not lie, which people were very quick to jump on. That was my point.

Hey, Disney Dreams, chill a little. I'm not, like, spitting mad or calling CMs liars. Just sayin'. It sounded like they were somewhat misleading in that they IMPLIED that F! might be gone forever. Enough to make OP concerned about it.

Then I made a general grumbling comment, that often CMs repeat rumors or get info wrong. I grumble about stuff sometimes.

I love Disney CMs, in my experience they are usually very helpful and kind! There's always somebody having a bad day, though.

Telling people "cancelled, retired" is NOT true. Put on hiatus, ok some true. In fairness to the CM maybe they don't know. Seems like they shoud know, or maybe they just don't care. I mean maybe the rumor mill at DL is saying that. Not all CMs hang on the boards reading stuff. Maybe that's what they heard around the "office" and they don't care enough to fact check

I did ask all the CM's if it was being refurbed and therefore will be back. Two of them said that 'NO', it will not be back. One CM said they didn't know.

None of the CM's mentioned anything about it coming back in November.

I agree, that there are probably lots of rumors flying around the CM's so it is hard to get cold hard facts.

well its been all over the offical reports about the new projecters being used for F after nov and they showed alot of things like how ercla was gona have her snack thingys in it i belive thats what i read and how it was gona be grate once all the upgrading was done

Just seems uncalled for IMO.

I know that I have read speculation somewhere that it will be cancelled for good due to the cost to put it on. It was just speculation though and maybe rumor. And I don't recall where I saw it.

to me saying it is retired means its not coming back...anybody that is a fan of Fantasmic knows it went down for rehab as in hiatus till Nov...but most times when you say canceled or retired that means its done as in finished and I know its not because I would have to hurt somebody and Ive been going to DL enough to know how often CM's dont know what they are talking about...they are nice as all get out but nice and knowledgable dont go hand in hand
