Fantasmic - Must do?

Would you consider Fantasmic a must do on your trip? I have seen Fantasmic before but will on a trip with a few people who have never seen the show. I currently have the Fantasmic dining package booked but the only time we could get is 2:30 pm in the afternoon which is going to be very inconvenient. I was thinking of canceling the Fantasmic dining, eating at a more regular time and either skipping Fantasmic altogether or just trying to get into the show without the VIP seating. If it was just me, I would probably skip it. Thoughts?

I wouldn't want to miss it, but it comes down to preference. would this be something your group would enjoy? I wouldn't worry about the package, just go stand by and eat when suits your schedule.

Fantasmic- absolutely YES!! I never miss F! on any trip. Since SpectroMagic is gone, it's my favorite nighttime performance! If you have people that haven't seen it, they have too!!

I would probably keep Fantasmic in if I had people in my party who have not seen it. For food I would go all-in at the 2:30 meal, stuff myself, and just do a morning and evening snack otherwise.

See I am sort of in the same boat. My family would love to see it but its the dining thats throwing us off. Not only the F! lunch package (we have an earier lunch ADR) but what to do about dinner? Eat before? After? Or just skip F! all together.

Good suggestions...thanks. The others in my party include a 4 year old who has never seen it. We could probably eat a good breakfast and just do a little snacking until 2:30. Of course, we could always see the show with or without the dining package. I have never done it without the dining package so I am not sure how hard it is to get in without it.

You can get a fast pass for it! When are you going?

I missed it our first two trips there, our 3rd we finally went and its now a must do again. I think I even cried. LOL.

Not a must do for us. We did Fantasmic package years ago and even then found the waiting around vs. going back to the resort and enjoying the pool, relaxing, or going to DD of more interest. Although this year we will be on DP again and may get the Fanstasmic package just in case since we would want a mid-day meal at Mama Melrose's anyways. But, even if we do that I'm guessing we will leave before Fanstasmic starts - but we are also do RD.

Fantasmic! was always a must do for us but, now I have grown a little tired of it. Not only that, I realized during the last time we watch how villain-ous it was and how frightening it could be for little kids, as I watched many parents leaving with crying kids almost as soon as it started.

So, my advice would be to make sure the kids in your group are not afraid of villains, loud noises, fire, explosions, etc. before you go.

Eta, if you are not that thrilled about going, OP, I would cancel the package and play it by ear. That way you are not locked in.

We been to WDW several times and still have not done Fantasmic! I guess since we don't know what we're missing, it's not a priority. :D I have the intention of going every time, but we're RD people and never seem to last in HS until the show. We're going in Nov, we'll see if we make it this time since heat won't be an issue...

November 14 - 21.

We always go in September and the first year we got a fast pass because we just weren't sure if it would be really busy or not but to be honest we didn't even need the fast pass. I'm not sure of the crowd level in Novemeber but last year when we went in September we didn't use the fast pass and didn't have any problems getting a seat!

I adore Fantasmic. It's seriously one of the most awesome nighttime spectaculars at Disney. The dining package is worth it especially on the dining plan. Reserved seating and a meal all for one credit its a no brainer.

Last year, we did the Hollywood Derby VIP pass. The dinner was astounding!! The show, it was alright, but we got our money's worth in the dinner alone.

This year, right after spring break, we saw that the second show had hardly anyone there, so we ran into line and sat down. Then we remembered, this is a show that mainly projects movies on to a water fountain with poor visuals and then has some weird iffy scenes including villains screaming as they 'die'?

My husband afterward:
"That has to be the worst show Disney has."

Sit down if you have time and want to extend your day? I guess it couldn't hurt. Waste a FP on it? Never....

"Must do" is a tough standard, but I would recommend it for anyone who has never seen it.

If you don't mind getting there 45 minutes or so ahead of time and waiting for the show with some snacks you can do it without a FP or a dining package.

My family (kids ranging from 13-7mo) holds this as the best show WDW has to offer. We never miss it and we have done the dining every time as it just gives me some peace of mind.
