We have yet to see Fantasmic! on out Disney trips so are planning on giving it a try this May! We are unsure of which restaurant to choose for dinner. We have eaten at Mama Melroses in the past and have had great dinners there but it seems there isn't much good to say of it lately here on the boards. What do you all think of the Brown Derby or Hollywood and Vine? Is either one a buffet so all tastes will be happy? We are bringing a friend of my daughers this year and she's not much of a pasta fan so we are thinking of trying something other than Mama's. Is the dinner-and-show combo worth it? What is the plan for Fantasmic! if you don't do the combo. Do you just arrive early and hope for the best with seating? You don't have to purchase tickets to see it do you? Thanks for any info!

moving thread over to the main dining board.

Fantasmic package entitles you to a reserved seat for Fantasmic. The seating is on the right side of the theater and you enter by a different entrance over by the gas station by the entrance.

H&V is a buffet, but I have not been impressed with the quality.

Brown Derby is on my list, but it is considered a signature restaurant and it is more expensive.

Here is a link to the DIS Menus. Share with the girls and see if there is anything the your DD friend will like at Mama's

We did the Fantasmic! dinner package and went to Brown Derby. This is by far DH's favorite restaurant in the World. He has to have their Ahi Tuna each time we go. However, depending on the ages in your group, it may not be the best choice. Hollywood and Vine is a buffet. Check out the menus here: http://allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm#mgm.

I really enjoyed having the preferred seating for Fantasmic! But, I'd do anything to avoid waiting, and booking the package cuts your wait time in half. Here's another link to the All Ears website: http://allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm#mgm.

I hope this helps!

We do the Fantasmic Package at the BD...we love it! We dined at H&V once. That was more than enough. The food was awful and so was the service....not a good experience at all.

We were set to do the Fantasmic dinner package on our last trip. We ended up cancelling while we were there. We walked into Fantasmic earlier in our trip and decided to use our dining credit elsewhere. I am not sure if this is normal but Fantasmic was not hard to get into the time of year we were there. We had very good seats.

Question- How much is this and can you add it on to the dining plan? We have never did this before, it sounds like a great idea!
Thanks, Dana

If you are in the dining plan, just ask for a Fantasmic reservation, There is no extra charge. The Brown Derby is 2TS while Hollywood & Vine and Mama Melrose are 1TS. We ate at Hollywood & Vine and found the meal to be average. It fit our needs, but not Disney.

OP - If you've been to Mama Melrose and like it, go there regardless of what you read on the boards. Your own opinion and taste buds trump anything else you see/hear.

As for walking into Fantasmic, it could happen as listed above, but its your vacation so why make the plan. If you get in earlier in the trip, great, but I was much happier to have it planned for us.

We did Hollywood and Vine once and didn't like it. Very average and uninteresting.

We always do BD and love it.

We actually enjoyed Mama Melrose's very much--we had great food and great service.

Been to Hollywood and Vine just once and believe me, once was enough! For us, anyway. It was all too bland.

Never tried BD, but hope to in the future!

Thanks for the help! I am going to do this for sure! I think we will add Mama Melrose to our ADRS!
