If it rains do they still show Fantasmic? If it is cancelled do they reschedule it or is it just tough luck for those of us who planned to see it that day?
1- Nope. (Small sprinkles may not be a problem. Heavy rain or lightning will cancel (or delay) a show.
2- They will look at the weather radar and either delay the start, or cancel altogether.
They will be making that decision right up to (and after, in some cases of delay) show-time.
3- If the show gets cancelled... that's it for that performance.
(Even if you have already taken part in the Fantasmic! Dinner Pkg.)
They have been known to cancel the first showing of the evening and go ahead with the second
scheduled show if the rain clears.
They will be making announcements in the theater and in the theater queues regarding the status of the show if the rain is a factor near show-time.
Thank you, Robo! I think I'll plan to see Fantasmic earlier in my trip so that if it gets cancelled I will get another shot at it (I've never seen it before - my boys were too small to stay up that late).
I was just there a few days ago in the rain. I think because there was no lightening or thunder the performance went on. Bench seats were soaking wet so be prepared . ( was still awesome with the wet seats and drizzle) we had done the dinner package so I felt obligated to still go despite the rain.
We were there last week and did the Fantasmic Dinner show package. They cancelled the show at 8:55 due to lightening in the distance (the seats are metal so I was happy to leave). As we were leaving the park, it did begin to rain. We went back the next night and they honored our ripped dinner ticket. The show was wonderful (and beautiful weather!). Gnats seem to be a problem though, so you might want to bring a fan or bug spray.
If they do cancel it at the last minute, though, they still have to shoot off all the pyrotechnics. We saw this a few years ago. They announced that F! was canceled, then played "April Showers" from "Bambi." They unloaded a whole lot of fireworks in 2 minutes. It was cool!
Even better, it was the first scheduled show of the evening and by the time the second scheduled show time rolled around, it had stopped raining. So we got to see it anyway.
I've seen it while it was very lightly sprinkling out. It had been raining all day, but cleared up enough in time for them to decide not to cancel. Despite the bleachers being completely soaked, it was pretty nice because the show was near empty after the downpour.
