Fantasmic history question

I was looking at some vids of Fantasmic on Youtube and came across one that had all the characters whipping their ribbons around while standing on the Island. No sign of any paddle boat. Apparently it's from MGM not DL.

When was this??? and...why?

I've never seen it done with anything but the paddle boat....

It was very recently, actually.

The "riverboat" was out for rehab for awhile.

Ahhhh...thanks. Man, that would have been disappointing to me. I get chills when they come around on the boat.

This got me to pull out my own video of Fantasmic that I took in 2003. And y'know...I gotta agree with the people who think that the DL version of Fantasmic is better than the Orlando one. When the rinky dink "paddle" boat comes around the corner at MGM...it really does pale in comparison to the Mark Twain. And the Peter Pan battle on the Columbia is much more impressive than the Pocohantas bit.

I do like the amphitheatre at MGM though. And I still love both shows. I never get sick of seeing it.
