Hi everyone,

Been twice to WDW before kids. This will be our first trip as a family.

I really enjoyed Fantasmic! & was thinking of doing a Fantasmic dining package, but wondering whether my girls will enjoy it or get bored.

What do you think?

I not sure that they'd become bored.
It's possible that they might get startled or frightened.
But, you know them better than we do.

You could sit by an aisle, on a row closer to the top of the theater.
That way you could make a quick exit if you need to.

I know my 5 yr old son got a little frightened by it. Its a really cool show but the music and some of the villians can be scary to the little ones. My son is now 9 and will be 10 on our next trip. His little brother will be 3 on our next trip and doesn't scare as easily so we are going to try it again and see how it goes, lol

At those ages, my daughters were very frightened and had to be taken out.

You know your kids, but at the very least be sure to sit back, away from the fire.

I personally wouldn't take my kids that young, it can definitely be scary. My kids were 8 & 5, and my 5 year old was scared.

Rather than doing the Dining Pkg, I suggest you just use FP+.

What a FP+ for F! offers is more CHOICE in seating.

If you DO get a F! FP+, you can choose to sit in either the FP section (virtually the entire left half of the theater) or the Standby section (virtually the entire right half of the theater.)

So, whatever section has the better seating at the time you arrive, you can go there.

Without a FP, you can only choose a seat in the Standby section.

There is a very good chance that you can get a FP+ for F! as a 4th or 5th FP of the day because they issue SO MANY of them (enough to cover nearly the entire left half of the seating.) On many nights, it is possible that you can gat a FP+ for F! as you are walking to the theater.

As to when to arrive at the theater, I'd get to there 45-60 minutes before the show-time.

Even with a FP or Dining Pkg. reservation, don't wait too late.

On busy nights, the CMs can stop holding the reserved sections within 20-30 minutes before show-time, and turn over any available seats to waiting walk-in guests.

There is sometimes a "pre-show" (such as it is) that can help pass the last 30 minutes before show time.

Map Below-

Arrows indicate the center of the seating.

Shaded areas:

(First or Only F! performance of the evening)

Cyan= Standby (walk-in) seating

Red= Dining Package Reserved

Blue= FP+ Reserved

Purple= Can be either FP+ or Dining Plan Reserved, depending on needs.

(Second or Third F! performance of the evening)

Cyan= Standby (walk-in) seating

Red, Purple, Blue= FP+ Reserved

(Although much of the outer Blue will likely be used for Standby.)

Definitely not bored, but maybe scared. I'd sit toward the back, so everything is farther away. We didn't do Fantasmic for years because I was worried my daughter would be scared by it, but she's 9 now and loves it, as do her 6-year-old and 3-year-old siblings. I do still think she would have been scared of it when she was younger, but the others aren't. I think it depends on how easily scared your kids are. Maybe watch it on Youtube and see if you think they'd be scared (keeping in mind it's much louder in person!).

My four year old loved it but he doesn't scare easily and the villains are all his favorite. He loved watching Mickey conjuring the water.

My 2 and 4 year old at the time enjoyed it. Every kid is different.

I'd just be prepared to leave if they get scared, but being bored won't happen.

Thank you everyone. I didn't even consider the frightening aspect of the show so I'm glad I asked!

Scared. And LOUD! Take earplugs or noise canceling headphones.

My DDs at 7 and 10 finally were ready to see it this trip. We skipped in favor of Launch Bay, but we couldn't consider it before now for the youngest.

It will just depend on your child! :) the first time we went out girls were 3 and 5. They loved it. The worst was definitely the wait for it to begin. It dragged :/ maybe make that your Mickey bar or the day time to make time go by a bit faster.

You know your kids and need to decide if they will be too scared to watch it :)

My girls both loved it- I have taken them from ages 2 to 9 and they always enjoyed it. Never had to take them out- neither ever got bored. Sleepy, yes (we saw the second show once). Bored, no. Scared, no. One of mine was scared by Philharmagic and Peter Pan but liked Fantasmic. Kids really are so different.

Robo's suggestion is a good one. Don't pay for a Fantasmic package if you are risking the kids will be scared. If you are on the dining plan, though, and want to eat at H&V or Mama Melrose anyway, then the Fantasmic package will cost you the same table credit service as dinner or lunch at those places anyway. Might as well do it.

Take something for them to do while you wait for the show. Have some food or electronic devices or something to keep them entertained.

Def won't be bored. It's mine and my girls favorite thing in Disney. I don't remember them being scared. My girls love the villains too. And sourcer Mickey is our fav

Our kids were scared at that age. We won't go back until our youngest is 6 or 7

Our oldest saw this for the first time at 26 months. No fear but he did fall asleep halfway through. My twins saw it for the first time at 22 months and loved it. They've seen it every year since as well and have never been afraid. I could see why it might get scary for some but I wouldn't assume it would be scary for all toddlers that age.
