We are going in May 2006-just had TA book some ADRs....
What time is the Fantasmic at MGM---I have been looking, but maybe in the wrong places...cant find the start time. I have even read there may be 2 shows nightly. I tried the Disney website and the calendar doesnt go past April. What would be a "good" time for dining to give us time to get to where we need to be?

I think Fantasmic was at 8 when we were there last April.

When you make your ADR for Fantasmic Dining Package, they will tell you what time you can eat. I don't think any of the reservations are available less than two hours before the show. That allows you a bit more than an hour to eat and then time to get over to the arena because even with the package, you have to arrive a half hour prior to the show. After that, they open the reserved seats up to the general public.

If you like to eat leisurely, you should make an earlier dinner reservation, then you won't have to worry. We ate at Brown Derby, and I would recommend allowing more time than the latest reservation if that is where you choose to dine. I am sure they would get you to the show on time if you asked them to rush, but we enjoyed the pleasant distance between courses and the way the service didn't hover over us waiting to bring the next dish.

Oh, and one more thing...if you call and the package isn't initially available, just make a reservation at the restaurant of your choice. More packages become available as the date gets closer. Originally, when I called for our upcoming trip, it was sold-out, but when I called last week, they had several openings.

Have fun!

Our TA reports that Mama Melrose has 630 available and BD has 4:30--We really want BD, but that seems soooo early to eat for us. I dont know what to book.
Thanks for your reply

Personally, I loved BD. The service was exceptional, we had a nice, quiet table, and the food was delicious and nicely presented. We are returning this trip. If you really want BD, book the early time, then call closer to your date and see if they have anything later. Since the calendar isn't really set yet, there is a good chance that more dining packages will become available. This is what the CM told me when I originally booked...and sure enough, I was able to switch!

Worst comes to worst, you have the early time. They didn't rush us at all when we were at BD, so you could take your time ordering, maybe have a drink beforehand...one thing we almost always do (in any restaurant) is place our appetizer order first and claim ignorance at what we want for an entree. This guarantees that the entree won't appear while we are still eating our appetizer :) Of course, if we take longer than most, we always tip generously.

Good luck!

Had the dinner at H&V not bad at all. :Pinkbounc

I have reservations at 6:00 at Brown Derby for 8:30 Show. Is this enough time to relax and have a nice dinner?
