Should we do the Fantasmic Dinner Pkg? We're on the dining plan and will have a 16 month old on the trip. DH and I have seen Fantasmic several times and love it, but it isn't a must do. We'd do Brown Derby probably to get our money's worth. Is it worth it? We would have to trade a res for France in Epcot or Boma.

We did the plan in 2006, and thought that Brown Derby was not worth 2 credits, our fantasmic show was messed up and you don't get your money back if this happens!!! Hope this helps.

I didn't know it was worth 2 credits. Can someone confirm this wtih the current plan?

Per AllEars.net, "Hollywood & Vine and Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano both count as one Table Service meal for the Dining Plan, while the Brown Derby counts as a Signature experience, or two Table Service meals."

It was this way when we ate there in April 2008 too. Dinner, while good, wasn't as great as California Grill which is also 2 credits.

For me, if this is not a must do I wouldn't bother with Fantasmic with a 16 month old. Of course every kid is different, but neither of mine would have been able to deal with Fantasmic at that age. Too many startling loud moments for my scaredy cat baby girl and my tubes-in-his-ears, doesn't-like-loud baby boy. As much as I miss them being babies sometimes, they are now getting to ages where we can share in the fun of stuff. As mom, you know your kids better than ANYONE.

The only benefit of the dinner package for me is not the food, but bypassing such a long wait in line.

Just an FYI if you're considering it: Because of the reduced number of Fantasmic shows, the Fantasmic dinner packages are VERY hard to come by. I called at 7:00am on the dot at my 90 + 10 window, got right through to a CM, asked about the package adr first, and still couldn't get a single Fantasmic dinner package for our entire 8 day trip. Lots of others are reporting the same problem.

Oh NO! So much for our doing this on June 20 for my dad's 75th Bday. I'm not onsite so I don't get the +10 days. I also screwed up calling for CRT. Long story, there is a thread.

Time to rethink our plans.

Sorry, but the Brown Derby has always been 2 credits on the DDP, which is one reason we never go there anymore. Not worth 2 credits.

We did the Fantasmic pkg this past October. We were paying oop and I would not do the pkg again if oop, I don't think the expense is worth it. We ate at Mama Melrose's which my kids love anyway.
The problem? The times to eat were very limited, we ended with a 3:30 pm dining ressie with a 7:00 or 7:30? show. It was a lot of food (app. dinner and dessert), that said, on the dining plan I probably would do it again if I could get a good dining time.

hoping to see fantasmic this year missed it last year, hope you get a reservation

what is the "+10"??? We're staying on property but they said we could call 90 days out for ADRs.

We've done Fantasmic several times and chose Hollywood and Vine - nice selection of food and very, very good. At least it was in 2006 and prior - I'm hoping quality and selection has not slipped since then. I'm starting to wonder based on some of the postings I've read. No potatoes at O'Hanas?!?!?

The +10 means that you can call 90 days from the date you arrive at Disney (since you are staying on site) and make your dinner reservations for up to the following 10 days.

For example, we are going on 9/25. Our 90 day window opens up on 6/27. I can call on 6/27 and reservations for 9/25 - 10/5, rather than having to call back on 6/28, 6/29, 6/30, etc.

It is a perk that allows guests to make their reservations for their entire trip (if the trip is 10 days or less) in one phone call, starting 90 days from the date they arrive.
