We will be trying this for the first time in August. We will eat at Mama Melrose's at about 6pm or so. How early do you need to head into the show? I know the section is reserved but the seats are on a first come basis. I was hoping to be able to do something between dinner and fantasmic. Thanks.

The waitress always tells us to head to the special Fantasmic entrance no later then 45 before the show and that they will not guarantee you a seat at the 30 minute mark...they will open it up at 30 minutes to everyone.

In January, we got there about 35 minutes before the show, and had fine seats. The section never really did fill up, but they ask you to be there at least 30 mintes before the show. It is a decent walk from the entrance until you finally get to the amphitheater. I've seen this show from all over the amphitheater, and there really aren't any bad seats.

Last summer we did the Fantasmic Dinner Package, Hollywood and Vine, great food! We went 30 min prior and got seats at top, Mom is in a motor wheelchair, which was fine. The problem came when 2 minutes before the show started they opened the gate for all the "late standing room only" people to come up. Well instead of standing in their section they came in and jumped all over to squeeze into a seat and I mean squeeze.. right in between my daughters, in the handicap family seats !!! The CM's did nothing even after we said something to them, they just said there was nothing they could do!! Oh well when we go again in Aug I'll make sure we sit tight together !! :grouphug:

Not to hijack your thread but could someone give me some details about this? How do you book it? Is there is certain price for it or just the price of your dinner? And we're going next week, is it too late to book? Thanks!

It might be booked up but call right away and find out. Below is some infor for you:

What is the Fantasmic! Dinner Package?

The Fantasmic! Dinner Package includes dinner at one of the participating Disney-MGM Studios restaurants and reserved seating in the Fantasmic! amphitheater. As of this writing, only Brown Derby, Mama Melrose, and Hollywood & Vine are participating.

This means that instead of waiting in line for 60-90 minutes outside the theater, you can walk right up to the theater 30-45 minutes before show time, (no waiting in line!) and still have a seat.

Is there a charge for the package?

There is no additional charge for the package itself. However, the package, which includes a fixed price dinner and the Fantasmic! seating pass, MUST be guaranteed at the time of booking with a credit card, and a $10 cancellation fee applies if not cancelled at least 48 hours beforehand.

Prices for the fixed price dinners are as follows:

Brown Derby $36.99 adult/$10.99 child (3-9 ) not including admission, tax, and gratuity. Your choice of appetizer, soup, or salad; entree; and dessert from menu. Items include Spice Grilled Filet Mignon, Pan-Seared Grouper, and The Original Cobb Salad. Adult beverages NOT included. Child's meal includes beverage.

Mama Melrose $28.99 adult/$10.99 child (3-9) not including admission, tax, and gratuity. Your choice of one wood-fired flatbread to share from Mama's rustic on-stage kitchen, as well as family style salad, and choice of entree. Dessert: Mama's signature Fantasmic! Tiramisu. Adult beverages NOT included. Child's meal includes beverage.

Hollywood & Vine $22.99 adult/$10.99 child (3-9) not including admission, tax, and gratuity (no characters). All you care to eat buffet. Choose from a number of selections including; oven-roasted Prime Rib, Citrus Baked Chicken, Pan-seared Salmon, and Stir-Fry Noodles with Sesame. Also includes fresh salads and build your own ice cream/dessert bar. Adult beverages NOT included. Child's meal includes beverage.

All packages include a special pass for seating at that night's Fantasmic! and dinner at the restaurant chosen.

Report to your restaurant 10 minutes before your Fantasmic! Dinner Package PS, and you'll receive your special Fantasmic! seating pass at that time. Theme park admission is NOT included.

Can I Use the Magic Your Way Dining Plan with the Fantasmic Dinner Package?

Yes, as of September 2, 2005, the Magic Your Way Dining Plan can be used to purchase a Fantasmic Dinner Package. You can also get the Fantasmic Dinner Package if you have the Magic Your Way Premium Package or, starting in 2006, the Platinum Package.

Do I have a reserved seat?

No, only the section itself is reserved for those with the dinner package. Within the reserved section, seating is on a first come-first served basis, so if you want your choice of seats, you should arrive early.

How do I book the Fantasmic! Dinner Package?

You can book the package now for dates 90 days in advance by calling 1-407-WDW-DINE.

What if I have already made reservations in advance at one of those restaurants for dinner?

That Advance Reservation is distinct from the Fantasmic! Dinner Package. If you want the Fantasmic! Dinner Package you need to book it specifically.

Where is the reserved section?

The reserved section is all the way over on the right side of the theater - the Witch section. The amphitheater is set up so that there really are no *bad* seats, except you will get wet if you sit in the first few rows.

Where do I enter the theater?

Do NOT enter the Fantasmic! line that starts at the amphitheater's Sunset Boulevard entrance.

Present your Fantasmic! Dinner Package voucher 30 minutes prior to showtime at the Fantasmic! sign located on Hollywood Boulevard next to Oscar's Super Service (inside the turnstiles at the front of the park). Guests arriving less than 30 minutes prior to showtime will be offered standing room only, if available.

How early do I have to get to the theater?

You must arrive at least 30 minutes before the show starts. There are enough packages available that the Reserved section gets fairly filled up, so if you want a better seat selection within the reserved section, plan to arrive more than 30 minutes before show time. Even though you still need to arrive early, you do NOT have to wait in line like those without reserved seating - you can just walk straight to the reserved section and sit down.

What if that night's show is cancelled?

According to the policies of the Fantasmic! Dinner Package, if the show is cancelled because of weather your pass is invalid, and you will NOT be issued a new one.

Some general information about the Fantasmic Dinner package is you have a set price for dinner. You can pick 1 of 3 restaurants at MGM. You can choose from Mama Melrose,Hollywood & vine, or the Brown Derby. Each restaurant has there own set price. I do know that Hollywood & vine is the cheapest and I think this is a buffet dinner. The most expensive is Brown Derby. You can book a Fantasmic Package by calling 1-407-WDW-DINE. The perk from this package is thatit includes reserved seats on the near side of the ampitheater so you don't have to show up early and wait. They do ask that you do show up 35-45 minutes before the show starts. I know that after that time is up they do open that section to the people who did not have a package and were waiting in line. We booked the package for our April trip since it is going to be extremely crowded since all the kids are off from school. I think but I am not sure our package was around $28.99 an adult and $10.99 for a child 3-9 years. I did have to give a credit card number to book this package and there is a 48 hr. cancellation time. If you cancel after the 48 hrs. they charge you credit card I think they said $10.00 a person they also charge you if you just don't show up.

I forgot to mention that The Brown Derby and Mama Melrose is a sit down dinner and they give you a set menu to choose from. The best info would be to call disney dining reservations and they could tell you more.

If you are going in late August 45 minutes should be fine. Our friends decided to sit in the normal section in late august. They arrived 40 minutes early and got mid center seats which they found better than the reserved seats. When we went on our last trip in Sept we arrive 35 minutes early and got great seats, but the show was cancelled! We were so disappointed. The next day while at EPCOT a really nice cm told us we should go to guest services and tell them we didn't have hopper passes and really wanted to see the show. They gave us free passes to MGM from 6:00 to closing. Again we arrive 30 minutes early and got great seats and this time the show was great!

Last time we did the Fantasmic package, I think they told us to get to our reserved seats 1/2 hour before the show. There were 13 of us and by the time we got finished with dinner and everyone used the restroom, we only got there 10-15 minutes before. Our seats were 1/2 way or 2/3 of the way up and they were fine.

Just wanted to say that I went to Fantasmic in early November. We arrived about 20 min. before the show. The stadium was rather full BUT we went right down front, in the dead set middle and grabbed seats on the first row. How? These seats are considered the "splash zone" meaning that you get a little mist on you from the wind blowing water off the lake. It really wasn't bad even on this 'boardering cool' evening. I think I'd do that again if possible and save the money.
