In all the time we have spent at WDW we have never done Fantasmic. Didn't want to wait 60 minutes plus with small kids I guess. Want to do it this October - Thinkning of booking the Pkg at Hollywood and Vine---- but not sure if the dinner expense will
prove to be worth it in the end.

Any advice for me?

Time wise it does save for those who don't want to reserve seats for up to 2Hrs before showtime. However I have used the Fantasmic pkg before Disney made you prepay.I won't use this option now as I feel the costs doesn't outweigh the benefit.October is usually quiet at WDW arriving a 1/2 hr before showtime should get you in to see Fantasmic.:earsboy:

For me - as long as they offer the package, I will book it. I don't want to do Fantasmic any other way. Showing up 1/2 hr prior to show time didn't work for me even during a slow time of year. We were put in the standing room only area at the back of the arena. The view was so bad and so uncomfortable, we left and came back another night 2 HOURS prior to show time to get the seats we wanted.

Even during a slow time of year, I think you should get there an hour or more before show time. If you don't want to wait that long, get the package and you can show up 1/2 hour before show time and have GREAT seats.

I've always done the package and think it's worth it - but I despise standing in line. I've always gone at a time when there are moderate crowds. The reserved seats are fine, if a little to one side, and the buffet at H&V is as good as any other restaurant of that calibre in the World, and I believe is the least expensive choice for the package. If being front and center for the show is an issue, then you'll need to stand in line.

I haven't done it yet but I've been seriously thinking about booking the package for our October trip. I just want to be comfortable in knowing that we'll get a seat. For me to not have to worry about it, is worth the money. ;)

Never again. We did the H&V Fantasmic Dinner Package in December of last year. Food is fairly good, but it was over $100 for my family of 5. There were still plenty of seats available at that time of the year. Thats the only time I will go. October is still off season, so I would say do it only if you were going to eat an expensive sit down non character meal anyway.

WOW! I didn't realize that $20 per person was an "expensive" sit down meal at WDW... that sounds pretty cheap to me, considering it's an all-you-can-eat buffet and the food is very good.
I've done the FDP at H&V a few times, and will be doing it again in three weeks. I refuse to wait in line for an hour and then sit in the bleachers for 30-45 minutes to see the show. Fantasmic is fantastic, but I'd much rather go in 30 minutes or so before show time and sit in the FDP section. It's the way to go, especially since you're going to have to eat something anyway..might as well get a little bonus back in exchange for having a "real meal".
