I don't know if this has changed but the last time we got the package it was included on the dining plan (because it doesn't cost anything extra). However the last time we went we called the day we could make reservations and could not get Mama Melrose on the package or the Brown Derby. The only one available was Hollywood and Vine and we would have to eat at 3:30. We chose not to do the package.

The last time we got the package we, again, could only get Hollywood and Vine and had to eat at 4:00 pm. We were a party of 4 but could only get 2 reservations for 2. When we arrived we asked to be seated together and were put at 2 tables for 2 next to each other - even though there were lots of tables for 4 open.

Yeah a few people on the uk board have booked the package and been told that dining plan credits cover it too :)

:goodvibes

Even with the dining credits it was still the full Fantasmic package, meaning the appetizers were also included. At least that was the case the past 2 years.

Yep, if you plan on eating at mama's it pays to book the package with the plan even if you don't plan on going to the show because you will get the app for free.

I did this 2 years in a row on the plan.

our problem has been that one the first day we can book dining Mama Melrose fantasmic is gone.

I heard the podcast team mention that it wasn't include when I was on my walk about an hour ago and I was saying "no, no, it is!" out loud :)

I've done the Fantasmic! Dinner Package in June of 2006 and July 2009 with the Dining Plan. We got appetizer, entree, and dessert.

Me too .. only I was at work. I had to stop myself from shouting "Yes it is!". :)

We used the dining plan for it in 2008. We went to Mama Melrose. We got an ADR for it again in Oct. :cheer2:
We are really looking forward to it as this time DS will be 4, and old enough to enjoy the show. Last time he was only 22 months and slept through it.

It might not be that its "gone", it might be that they have not decided if fantasmic is running that night so they have not listed the package. I am sure the CRs making the adr would just tell you its sold out as they give out the wrong info a lot.

Once the days fantasmic is running has been confirmed I would go ahead and try again. you never know.

They only have a few Fantasmic package spots and they go very fast. I called almost exactly 180days + 10 for my DVC stay and I was lucky enough to get one at a decent time as the wife Phoenixblue pointed out earlier. I actually think we hit a 5pm one at Melrose this year in October, I was surprised it wasn't a freaky time like 3pm like we had in 2008. :thumbsup2

We have a 5pm Fantasmic dinner package in a couple weeks. I called on 180 days + 10. We're especially lucky seeing that it's a Star Wars weekend as well.

It will be our first time seeing Fantasmic, so hopefully we'll enjoy it.

I was told that you can only book 180 days plus the number of days for your stay, so if you're not staying 10 days (the maximum allowed to book at 180) you can't go 190 days. I have a 5 night reservation, so the CM at DVC member services said I can book 180 days but for all 5 nights of my stay. In the past, you would book night 1 at 180 days, then you had to call again the next day to get night 2 booked, then you had to call the next day again, to get your third day. They told me 180 days and I can book for my day1 through day 5. I did Fantasmic once. Couldn't get Mamma Melrose and only could get Hollywood & Vine for 3:20pm. :guilty: It turned out ok, but was a waste of money for the food as we had to be something like $16.99 for my 5 year old, and she ate exactly 1 slice of bread and a rice krispie square. I would like to do this in November when we go for Thanksgiving. My check in day is Sunday 21st, so I was told I could not call until May 25th. I want to get Mamma Melrose. However, I'm wondering. The WDWinfo site has listed Fantasmic for that week on Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30pm only. I would hardly want to eat dinner then, at dinner time because we'd miss the show. Would they open it up earlier for lunch for instance? What do you think?

The only reason I used to get the Fantasmic package was so you didn't have to wait in line with everyone else (you used to be able to enter backstage by Oscar's Garage around half an hour before the show). I don't really think it's worth it anymore since it is difficult to get any restaurant other than Hollywood and Vine and they always seem to want to give me a 3:30-4:00 dinner.

I totally agree...It's not worth it to do the package anymore. As you mentioned you now have to wait in line. Also, you still have to arrive early albeit not as early, but still about 30 to 40 minutes early.

The biggest thing for me is the seating. The reserved area of seating for the Fantasmic package is way off center. In face, it's so off center you can see what's going on backstage. You see the floats before they even make their way out.

When we had out 3:20 dinner at Hollywood & Vine, we considered it a late lunch. We had a light supper after the show. I do recall, now that you mention it, that our seating was way off center. We were in the 3rd row, so I thought that was nice. If I have to get there 40 minutes early anyway, I might as well just try walk up. If you get in, you get it! Is there really a "bad" seat in there anyway? The show is so big. And I'm short. If I'm in a really good seat, if someone tall shows up and sits in front of me, my view is blown. Or even worse, a child who the parent allows to stand on the seat. I had that happen!!

Is the dinner package at Mamma Melrose a fixed price meal? I thought since its not a buffet place, that you could just order off the menu and not get the appetizer and dessert if you don't want. :confused3
