For anyone out there who has done this.

Hollywood and vine buffet - how is food here?

Mama Melroses - So since it is one set price how do you know which
itens you can pick out on menu? 1 appetizer and 1 main? How about dessert. Is there anything on menu that is not included?

I've done the Fantasmic package for both places, but when we ate at Mama Melrose's it was before you could pick an appetizer. Before you got a family salad & flatbread to share, your choice of entree and your choice of dessert. I much preferred it this way since I loved their flatbreads and am not crazy about their appetizers. We loved Mama Melroses. And I'm 99% positive you get the same menu as regular diners. So you'd each get an appetizer, entree and dessert.

Hollywood & Dine was OK. There was a good selection of food, but nothing that stood out in my mind. I do remember our server was horrible. But the food was OK.

Dd and I have always done the Fantasmic package at H&V and have enjoyed the food. They have a few items that are usually there but there are always new selections each time we have gone. Our servers have always been very pleasant and attentive.

We did H&V twice...and won't go back (the service was not good, the food lukewarm at best and we like Old Country Buffet better...and we won't eat there anymore!). We like MM. The menu is not limited...you can order anything you want from it. We have always had good service and good food.

We did H&V in August. The food was average and that's not a complaint. I really liked the salmon dish and I think there was really good green beans too. Our server Brenda was good to us. Even bringing us tall glasses to make Orange floats using the soft serve ice cream and Orange soda...ooh la la. I also recall our 6yo being very content: he ate and was very entertained by the busy kids activity sheet. Funny the things you notice and recall at a place like that. He's not a bothersome child, but I recall we were really able to just relax and eat; it was nice. We really had to hike for MK to make the ADR and it was really hot so the relaxing refreshing sense of the meal really stood out for me.

We did the H&V package in Aug. 2006 and liked it ... nothing really fancy, just good, hot "homestyle" food. Service was good too. We are doing the package again this August and returning to H&V.

I have eaten at all three FDP locations:
Mama Melrose is 1 appy, 1 main course, and 1 dessert per person. We did this 10 days ago. We could choose from anything on the menu. It is the better lower cost FDP option. Service has been wonderful both times we have eaten there (last week and 2006)

H&V - we did not care for the buffet and our service was horrible

The Brown Derby is excellent (FDP) but is considerably more expensive. It has been 24 months or so since we dined there - but we could choose anything on the menu except for a dessert intended for 2 that was a special at the time (we each received 1 appy, 1 main course, 1 dessert).

The Fantasmic package at the Brown Derby is wonderful!! The Old Hollywood Vibe with walls decorated with Ornamental Classic Hollywood Caricatures sets the mood for a fun experience and allows you to try the "Cobb Salad", which was created specifically for a guest at Original Brown Derby in California. The meals I've had here have always been top notch, and the priority seating for viewing Fantasmic complements an entertaining evening at Hollywood Studios. Remember to make reservations early, so you can take advantage of any Extra Magic Hours if available.
