I've never seen Fantasmic. Is this something that is in the category of "should not miss"? And is the dinner package really worth it? Which restaurant would you choose for the package?

Yes, Fantasmic is definitely in the do not miss category.

Depending on the time of year you're planning to be there, the dinner package can be very advantageous. We always use it. You're given a ticket that gets you into a special section of the theater with reserved seats. Some claim these aren't very good seats, but I disagree. It is off to one side of the theater, but I've never had any trouble seeing everything.

The three restaurants where the package is available are the Brown Derby, Mama Melrose's, and Hollywood & Vine.

We've never tried the Brown Derby (perhaps next summer). If you're on the dining plan, this is a signature restaurant which will cost you two sit-down credits each.

Mama Melrose's is an Italian restaurant -- we really love it. The only difference between being there on the Fantasmic package and ordering off the regular menu is that you have to do the pizza for your appetizer. (You share one for the group.) For DDP, this is a one-credit restaurant.

Hollywood & Vine is a buffet. The food is great, but we weren't very fond of the atmosphere. The tables were very crowded together, and we found it very loud. For DDP, this is also a one-credit restaurant.

Fantasmic is one of the best events at WDW and I think the best nighttime event. We always take advantage of the package. Usually mama melrose's which is OK. If you have the dough, try the brown derby.

If you haven't seen it then yes I would put it in the do not miss category.

We will see it for the 4th time this coming June and once again we are doing the dinner package.

Personally the thought of standing in that long line totally turns me off. I want to be able to go in about half an hour before it starts and still get a great seat. The dinner package allows that.

We haven't done Hollywood Brown Derby - primarily because I don't want to use 2 TS credits from the dining plan. We have done Mama Melrose twice and Hollywood and Vine once (doing H&W again this year). They are both very good - just depends on what you want - Italian or a buffet.

The show is a must see, my 8yo DD's favorite since we first saw it many moons ago. We always do the dinner package - did MM once; there was a bug in my mom's food and they just shrugged and said "it's Florida." Never again. We do H&V - food for all likes and dietary needs. Eat early and it isn't as bustling and loud. I have also heard MM's can be very slow....
