Fantasmic Dinner Package?

I think I'm beginning to understand this whole dinner package for Fantasmic thing, but I'm wondering about a couple of things....

What happens if you book the dinner package and it rains or something, causing Fantasmic to be cancelled?

What exactly is the package giving you??? A shorter line into Fantasmic as opposed to the longer line? I've read that people still wait up to an hour, even with the dinner package, so I'm a little confused about what you are getting. You get dinner at one of the three restaurants and then a shorter line?

Do you have to go straight from the restaurant to Fantasmic? Or do they give you a special ticket to use or ?? Can I eat dinner at 5:30 and still go to Fantasmic, or do you have to do them in tandem?

Okay, so maybe I'm not understanding it. Thanks in advance!

If Fantasmic is cancelled for any reason you are out of luck. This happened to us last year. You make a reservation for 1 of 3 restaurants (H&V, Brown Derby or Mama Melrose). When you arrive at the rest. you will be given a slip of paper from your server. This will give you instructions on how to enter the show. The entrance is a side gate toward the front of the park. It's gives you access with less traffic. Also, a section of seating is reserved.

BTW - the pass is only good for that day on the first showing of Fantasmic

Hope this helps!

I am really on the fence whether I want to do this...

The Fantasmic passes you receive give you a side entrance into Fantasmic. They ask that you arrive at least 45min before the show. After that, they can give up your seats which I have heard has happened to some if they get there with 30-35min left.

The other thing is Brown Derby is crazy expensive or 2 points on the DDP and Mama Melrose has a set menu even if you are on the dining plan. I am not a fan of set menus and Mama's didn't appeal to me to begin with. That leaves Hollywood and Vine and personally we are already doing some buffets with characters so I will be buffet out!

Last year we went to 50's Prime Time Cafe and had a great time and then walked in last minute for standing room only which to me, beat out eating somewhere we didn't want to and then having to sit around for 45+min to hold our "saved" seats.

In May we walked right in and had a seat with 15min left to go

So this time we are again taking our chances and eating at Sci Fi and then going to see what the lines are.

Thanks so much!

What cancels Fantasmic besides rain?

Lightning!

Also, I read once that Mickey got hurt and fell at the beginning and it was canceled. :(

Well, it depends what time of year you go. In July there are 2 showings 9:00 & 11:00 (I think the times are correct). So, if you decide not to book the package and you miss the first show you can always make it to the second. This is one of our favorite shows at Disney so we make sure we see it. Also, H&V is really good. That being said there is no additional fee for the Fantasmic Pakage so, I always book it just to be on the safe side. If you see better seats you can always move!

Just remember that there is a 48 cancellation policy so they will have your CC to hold the reservation and will charge a fee if you do not cancel in time and do not show up.
