This will be our first time seeing Fantasmic. I want to book the dinner package but can't decide which restaurant. Any suggestions? There are 7 in our party - 3 adults and 4 children between the ages of 6 and 9 years old. Also, when I call to make the ADR, do I just book the restaurant or mention that I want the Fantasmic dinner package? I appreciate any help with this. Thanks!

You definitely want to reserve and say "I would like to book a fantasmic dinner package for a party of?" The availability of these are limited. Also, the ADR's for these start early, around 3:30. I would call as soon as you are able. That being said, last year we ate at Mama Melrose's because we were on the dining plan and only wanted to use 1 TS credit. The Brown Derby is 2 credits. I haven't heard great reviews on Hollywood & Vine that's why I chose Mama's. They were very accomadating to our fussy 5yr old! You will need to reserve your ADR with a credit card as well and have to cancel 24 hours in advance or you will be charged. Good Luck!

We did the Hollywood and Vine with Fantasmic in April with our 2 and 4 year olds. The food was about the same as the other buffets we ate at. Not great but ok. Buffets worked out well for us though with our kids (not the most patient) so we did several. We did love Fantasmic though and liked being able to have a little more time in the park after we ate while everyone else was rushing to get good seats. You may already know this but in case you don't, sit about halfway up in the stands at Fantasmic. Otherwise, you will end up soaked if it's a windy night!

Thanks for the quick replies. After looking through the menus on allears, I think I will probably book Mama Melrose. DH is also not a big fan of buffets. Thanks for the advice regarding the seating as I have no desire to get soaked!

Thanks again.

We have always enjoyed our meal at Mama Melrose for the Fantasmic Dinner Package (excellent service, good food--not five star--but above average comparing to other restaurants). We haven't tried Brown Derby in years--had a bad meal--but we are going to give them a second try this year. Did not like Hollywood & Vine at all--the food was constantly running out and took forever to replace, it wasn't hot and the service was terrible--and all they have to do is serve drinks and bring your bill (and the bathrooms were filthy).

We enjoyed our Fantasmic dinner at Mama Melrose in 2005. We thought the food and the service were good. It was nice not to have to arrive so early to get a seat!!

When I made my reservations for Mama Melrose's today the CM said they had a 48 hour cancelation policy. If we failed to cancel there would be a $10 per person charge.

Hope this helps.

If you choose Brown Derby is there a specific menu and can you use you DP credits for the fantasmic package?

Not on the plan, but we had a great meal on Fantasmic Package at Brown Derby last Sunday. It was great having the easy access to seats at the show. Our 1st time seeing the show. Our kids are 7,6 and 4.
