Looking for suggestions on this. We are plan on going to MGM on Sunday, May 13th and want to see Fantasmic. My wife does not want to make reservations and play it by ear, but I tend to be a little more cautious. If we were to go to Hollywood and Vine, can reservations be made same day? Should I make reservations now and cancel if we decide not to go? Help me make up my mind....

For the dinner pkg, if you do not cancel at least 48 hours prior, you are charged $10/person. I think whether or not you could get the pkg the same day is a toss up - but people are always cancelling, so it wouldn't hurt to check.

You should make your reservations NOW!! They only have a limited number of Fantasmic dinner packages. When you call to make your reservation make sure you say FANTASMIC DINNER PACKAGE. If you just walk up day-of there may not be any dinner packages left.

The only downside is that if you cancel within 48 of your reservation time you may get charged $10 per person. DH and I cancelled on our last trip within 24 hours, but they were nice enough to not charge us, because we could not get through to the dining line the night before. But that is the exception, not the norm.

You can find seats for Fantasmic if you want to get in line at least 1 hour before. Also if they have 2 shows one night go to the later show, you may be able to just walk up. That's what happened to DH and I, and we got pretty decent seats.

I've done the Fantasmic pkg May '05 (Mama Melrose) and May '06 (Hollywood & Vine). Both times both restaurants were turning all walk ups away. I would definitely book ASAP. I'll be back down there May 5th-13th and for the day I'm going to MGM no Fantasmic pkgs were available at any of the three restaurants. I'm going to 50's Prime Time and then will just have to show up early for Fantasmic. Good luck!

We did the FDP for our trip last August (late Aug), and I am glad we did. We ate at H&V. Which I was pleasantly surprised with. The place was packed though and even with our ADR we waited a good 20 min. to get in. They were turning away walk ups informing them that the rest. was booked solid for the evening. Good luck.:thumbsup2
