Fantasmic Dinner Package Changes

I know this is really early to be thinking about this but I have a question about the restaurants for the Fantasmic Dinner Package. DH and I are going to WDW Dec. 17-23 and I want to do the package. Which of the 3 restaurants would you recommend? Buffets really aren't our style but I don't really see anything too terribly appealing on the menus for the other two.

Please share your opinions!!!

I haven't been to H&V for dinner (haven't been there since the character breakfast about 2 years ago), but I like both Mama Melrose and Brown Derby. If I didn't really like either menu though, I'd got with MM since it's cheaper, so that way if I really didn't like the food I wouldn't feel like I paid so much. I'm guessing you'd find something you liked at either restaurant though (and if you do the buffet, there's bound to be something you like there) so it wouldn't be a bad experience. Also, for the time of year that you're going, I would definitely get the package as it will be pretty crowded and you'd have a long wait in what could be really cold weather. We went 12/27/02-1/4/03 and we did the package and I'm glad we did. They had 3 shows a night, but when we tried to go back later in the week to see the 3rd show (which is least crowded) there was a line an hour before the show and it was freezing out, we had winter coats, gloves, and hats on (and we're from NJ so we are used to the cold). Granted, that week was more crowded than yours will be, but I still wouldn't really want to wait if it's cold.

OK, but... I have a 11 yr old son in a wheelchair. Do they stick us up in SRO? Or do they have a w/c section? Last time we went we never made it, he threw up in the park.. lol

The have a wc section. Well, general handicapped section, as my mom needed to use it on a trip when she was on chemotherapy and she was allowed.

Hi - This board ROCKS! I've b een trying for weeks for a cancellation and thanks to this Board, I got 6:30 seating on the night I want!!!!!

Ok, explain this...I called yesterday, 90 days out, for our FDP and was told only 4-5pm was given out for FDP. How do you get a reasonable dinner time for this package?

It's widely known here on the DIS that they only open up early times at 90 days and if you want a later time, you call back starting at 30 days for a later time...later times open up around 30 days.

For me it was exactly 25 days out for my last two trips.

Seems like booking one now and then changing it around the 25-30 day mark works. I've never done it but learned that new times open up at that time from this thread. Good luck!

It's funny, but 5pm for us is great! I guess we are weird :confused3 Even when my son's Dr. asked us when we ate dinner said to me "Wow, you're not from around here are you?" I just thought 5 was normal everywhere! Oh well, not pertinent here, but it works for us. Sorry you couldn't get a better time 90 days out but keep trying closer to your date.

Ok, great! I was able to read this thread a bit today and think I have it figured out. I will call back in May and see what I get. Our plan is to go early, leave at lunch time, come back for dinner time until closing each night. We have a 4:20 dinner, which makes us having to leave the resort at 3 to get there on time! Not much of a break in that really. A 6:30 would be great!

The wheelchair/special needs area is the whole 2 back rows of the amphitheater. They have wheelchair parking spots alternating with seats for people accompanying them in the very back row. The row right in front of that row is for the rest of their party to sit.

I just called to get PS for FDP @ H&V, the CM told me she could not take any PS's becasue they didn't have the park calender for June and I should call back in a week. Is this common? Should I just call back in a week or do some of you veterans have some info I am not aware of.

Call back in a week.

We are going 6/4-6/11 and plan on going to MGM on 6/10. I have a PS for dinner at the HBD for 6:00. I plan to call around the 30 day mark and try to get a FDP. This time of year there is usually after the start of the time Disney adds a second show for the summer season. If I can't get a time reasonably close to 6:00, we will go to the second show without FDP.

Racking my brain...all these initials are hard to keep up with for a rookie. HBD? what is that one? I am sure after you tell me it will be a "DUH" moment, but I can't come up with anything right now.

Can anybody tell me the time frame in which you must be seated to be a part of this package? I know this is last minute, but I didn't know about this deal until now and we're going next week. Do I have any chance of getting in on it?
