Fantasmic Dinner Package Changes

it always seemed to me that the more we paid, the less our kids ate..always figured it was some kind of law of the universe....:)

Disney used to let you schedule a meal after the first show so you wouldn't have to eat so early. I guess too many people were going to the show then skipping the meal and creating too much paper work.

Personally I think it is a mistake to not allow a later dinner time or the second Fantasmic showing. Afterall, I have to decide if I want my family to eat a lite lunch at the ABC Commissary or the counter sevice by the "Honey I shrunk the kids" play area, or to just not do the package. I just can't see eating a big lunch at one of the other sit down restaurants and then eating a big dinner at 4 - 4:30.

If they would go back to letting you schedule dinner after the first show and charging your credit card wheather you eat or not, I could justify the extra cost of the dinner package and still eat a relaxing sit-down lunch. Having said that, we will not be doing the dinner package next week when we will be there during President's Week but will do the dinner package in June because of the crowds.

If there is only one Fantasmic showing at 9pm what is the latest seating available at the three FDP restaurants? I was told by the GF concierge Disney only offers these type of reservations up until 4:30pm. Is this accurate???

I made PS this mourning for May 13th. Of course the hours aren't out yet so I don't know when fantasmic is that night, but my only choices for dinner time at Mama Melrose was 4 and 4:30PM

Hope this helps.

I just called the dining reservation number to make my PSs for the Luau and the Hoop-Dee-Doo in June. Since I'm reading so much "contradiction" on this thread, I thought I'd just ask her for myself. The lady I talked with told me that, in the summer months (I'll be there in June), there are 2 Fantasmic shows. Usually, she said, these are at 7ish PM and 9ish PM. She went on to say that, for the later show, PSs at the restaurants are usually 6 & 6:30. She also said that, for the early show, there is usually restaurant seating before the show (4 & 4:30) AND after the show.
So, it appears that meal seating for the late show is pretty much DURING the early show.......and meal seatings for the early show are before the show and during the late show.
Also, keep your "ears up" and your "eyes peeled" because she told me that Sci-Fi and Prime Time occasionally decide to participate in this program.

(:earseek: )
I hope this sheds a little light on the subject for some of you. Unfortunately for others, I have no info on pre-summer shows. :sunny:

Don't call long distance for your dinner reservations. For PSs at ALL Disney restaurants and shows, call TOLL FREE = 800-828-0228......then touch "5" for dining. :smooth:

Sorry if I'm repeating a question, but this thread is SO LONG.

What is the current dinner package for Fantasmic! ?

Deb Will's site covers the current info pretty well at http://allearsnet.com/din/fantdin1.htm . There are three restaurants currently offering it -- Hollywood & Vine, Mama Melrose, and Brown Derby -- each at a different price. Check out the link for all of the specific info.

Just returned from President's Week and very few were using the FDP on Monday. We arrived at 30 minutes before showtime and there was almost no one in that section. Only about 5-10 minutes before showtime did it begin to fill after the rest of the amphitheater was full.

We went week after New Year's and 30 minutes before the show the reserved section was about 1/4 full. It was full by the time the show started. We had a very good buffet dinner at Hollywood & Vine at a reasonable price. We'll do it again next time we're at WDW.

when we went in Jan ( mid) the entire far right section was empty for the whole show. by the time the show started it was pretty full otherwise but there were scattered empty seats, no one was standing.

We will use it for our trip in June because of the expected crowds. The only reason we don't do it every trip (4-5 per year) is because of the time. They now only let you do it for the first show and the latest you can do it is at 4:30 most of the year. If they would let you do it later, I'd probably do it every time to avoid the hastles of getting to the amphitheater so early.

I booked the Fantasmic Dinner/Show deal this week for my trip in May. Dinner at 4:20 (not happy with that) and the 8:30 show. I also booked Crystal Palace Breakfast with the Characters for 8:30 am. I'm thinking I should have booked earlier to get into the park early but I'm going to be really tired as it is!!

I've been reading the boards for so long, I'm not sure why I confused 90 days with 60 days - I'd been waiting to make my PS for the 60 day mark!!!

I hope what I booked is okay. It seems different than what others are saying.

Booked HBD/Fantasmic for April trip-4:30 was all they had left and the 8:30 show. We booked over a month ago-popular time of year.

I also tried to book the Fantasmic Dinner package over the weekend. Disney Reservations informed me that the only choices they allow now are 4:00 and 4:30, even though the show was at 8:30.

Anybody else been told the same thing?

Thanks.

Yes. I called today to book for June. I could only get 4:20pm, and the show isn't until 9pm. Oh well, we will just make the most of it and not eat lunch.

I just got off the phone from booking. I called several weeks ago for Fantasmic package for April 7 - 11. There was nothing available. Today I called and had a variety of choices. I got 6:30 at Hollywood & Vine for the 8:30 show. What I questioned was that she told me they don't do packages at all for the 10PM show. Has anyone encountered that?

The morale of the story is, keep calling. Something better may turn up. It did for me.

I called EXACTLY the 90 days ahead of time that you're allowed to book and I was able to pick out any time I wanted. I got the Fantasmic package at 5:30 for the 9 o'clock show. I wanted some time in between. But do call as early as possible (as in exactly 90 days from when you want to see the show) if you want your choice of time.

I called exactly 90 days and the latest time I could get was 4:30. Do you think it is worth calling back again to see if a better time opens up?

When I called to make a FDP PS for May 27th at the Brown Derby they told me that they were only taking PS's for the FDP between 3:30 and 4:00. They didn't have any 4:00's available so I took a 3:50, but I found that really odd since Fantasmic isn't until 9:00 on that night.
