Fantasmic Dinner Package Changes

Yes, we had our choice of any dessert. I ordered the warm sugar-free apple and cranberry crisp, my fiancé had the white chocolate cheesecake with a sorcerer's hat and ears made out of chocolate, and my mom had the double vanilla bean crème brûlée. This was when we had the FDP on 12/29/02. Not only did our waiter tell us about every dessert and allow us to order any of them, but we asked the hosts at the front podium all about the FDP menu while we were waiting and they too said would could order anything we wanted for appetizer, entree, and dessert. They did point out the the Cobb Salad would count as 2 appetizers if we ordered it, but other than that we could each pick one. We had a 4:45 PS for the 6:30 show, but had to wait 45 minutes for a table so we decided we should all know what we wanted to order before we sat down to speed up the meal, which was why we asked the hosts so much about the menu. So we asked lots of questions since I had read on boards how there was a set menu and stuff and we didn't want to plan to eat one thing, then be forced to get another, but we were able to choose anything we wanted. Don't know if it was a fluke, or if they changed the dessert options that day, since as we all know nothing is ever the same in WDW. All the desserts we had though were great!

(As a side note, WDW dining called us at home after we left for WDW to change the PS time to 4:20, as they said this was now the latest time and whoever booked us had made a mistake, but since we were not home we never got the message and showed up at 4:40, as scheduled. We did get to Fantasmic minutes before it started, but they kept the area roped off from the general public until after we were in and the manager of the restaurant walked us over and personally helped us get seats since we otherwise would have had bad seats as a result of a WDW dining error.)

I'm glad things worked out for you. We received the same call just before we left and opted for a later PS after the first showing of Fantasmic. Glad we did.

I called yesterday and to my surprise got PSs for HV/Fantasmic pkg at 6:20p on monday 4/21. We basically had a pick of times starting from 5:00 on up. Is this any indication that the park won't be too too crowded?

We want to do the dinner package at the Brown Derby or Mama Melrose's but is it a special menu or not? I keep seeing conflicting views. I need to know because my son and I are very picky. Thanks.

We ate at the Brown Derby on the Fantasmic Dinner Package (12/29/02) and we had absolutely no restrictions on what we could order from the regular menu. There was no pre-set menu or anything like that. The only thing they told us was that if we wanted the Cobb Salad for 2 then that would count for the appetizers for 2 people (we had 3 people in our party). None of us wanted this salad so instead we got 3 separate appetizers. All of our food, appetizer, entree and dessert, was all ordered from the regular menu (as we went back to Brown Derby on 2/16 without the FDP and were able to order the same meals if we wanted to). Not sure about Mama Melrose or if Brown Derby has changed since 12/29 or not, but you can always call and find out.

We probably won't be able to book May until around April 15th.

During week of May 4, Stars & Cars parade is at 5:30 and Fantasmic at 9. If I want to see the parade, what would be a good time to get PS for the dinner package?

They are taking bookings for May now.

seems odd to be eating dinner at 6 for a 9 pm show, but I guess youre right, it's a reservation for the show...

Thanks for letting me know about the May ressies. I made a 5:30 for Mamas. Is this a good restaurant? What do you recommend to eat?

Yes, thanks from me too! I made my reservation for Brown Derby for 6:30---I really wanted to see the parade this year because we missed it last year but I couldn't get reservations for Mama Melrose's for after the parade -- latest seating was 5:15 but the Brown Derby was able to accomodate us. :Pinkbounc

Thanks for the heads up Samandmom!!! I really appreciate it. I was hoping for a 6:30 PS at Hollywood and Vine, but they were already booked! We ended up making it for 6:00. Hopefully we'll get to see MOST of the parade!! At least I got that, though! Now I believe all my PS's are made and I can sit back and relax (well, sort of).

Made PS for Brown Derby for May Fantasmic-they had plenty of times available. I asked for and got 5:00pm

Thanks for the info on this, I didn't even realise it was available.
How far in advance can you book ?

We'll be there in August.
:Pinkbounc

I was able to book about 30 days in advance.

We are visiting the MGM on June 8th & when I called this morning - still no Fantasmic Packages available  (It's 4/28/03) But, the CM did say that she expected them to be available for June later this week (the first of May). If anyone finds they are available for June - Please post!
TIA
