Fantasmic Dinner Package Changes

concerning the Fantasmic Dining package. If you are one of the WDW guests who made reservation for it prior to them adding it to the MYW Dining plan but before your arrival, you might want to call WDW-DINE and let them make note that you have the MYW Dining plan and not to charge your credit card the $10.00 hold. I understand that this is only to hold your PS, but if for any reason you are late or don't make it, least you won't get charged. I called today to see if they had any other times that are better for our schedule on that day, and the CM said "Oh, you have the MYW Dining Plan added on, let me take your credit card hold off of the reservation." She also did this for my PSs for CRT lunch and PSB breakfast. . .

Is the Brown Derby fantasmic package worth 2 ts credits ? Does anyone know the price of the package? It was 36.99??? So unless it has increased I may just pay out of pocket for it. We have already booked California grill one night which will be a 2 TS also. Whic would you pay for? Thanks for all the great advice in advance.

Dear Willis, :wave2:

I have the free dining too and went through the menus listed on allearsnet to determine what approximately my DH and I might spend at each restaurant, so we could get the most for our dining credits. :teacher: :teacher: From what I could determine, California Grill - our favorite restaurant there :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: - would cost us more than the Brown Derby. So we decided to use the two TS vouchers at CA and pay for dinner at the Brown Derby. Reading the reviews of BD, people like the food there a lot, but we haven't gone before. I am looking forward to trying it. :Pinkbounc

WILLIS -

I concur with using the 2 credits at California Grill and paying for HBD. I LOVE both places, but think you will definately save more by using credits at CG.

Also, there is always the possibility that your waitperson at HBD may have a spare Fantasmic dinner package pass. You never know when they may bring one out! It happened to us and we never even asked. We mentioned that we chose not to use the dinner package because it didn't fit in our time frame and we REALLY wanted to eat at HBD. It was a slow season and a slow time of day - and he popped out with a pass.

We generally eat in the late afternoon anyway (3:30-4) and then snack later if we get hungry, so we made the last LUNCH reservation available which will save you money as well.

Enjoy your meals and your trip!

Just a quick question about the Mama Melrose menu for Fantasmic. I've read through the thread and didn't see the answer, so please excuse me if I've missed it in a previous posting.

I am on the dining plan and have booked Fantasmic for Mama Melrose. I haven't been before so can't really picture what the food looks like - however, the fantasmic dining menu says 1 flatbread for every 4 people.

How does this work if you're a solo diner like me? It seems a waste to give a flatbread to one person when it's normally enough for up to four - but it'd still be nice to try some. Has anyone done this as a solo diner before? Is flatbread included for a solo diner or not, and can I request that only a portion of a flatbread be brought out, or will this automatically happen anyway?

(It's such a silly small thing, but you know how a question gets stuck in your head until you feel that you Need to know the answer?! You can tell I spend too much time reading these boards and getting excited about everything :rotfl: )

Okay, I have never been your your situation, but here's my thought. You'll definitely get a flatbread being solo since it's part of the package you're paying for. They can't tell you no you can't have it unless they changed the price for you. I'm sure you could ask for half or something, but not sure they'd even bother with doing it, they'd probably just give you the whole thing. I've never gotten a flatbread at Mama Melrose, but have gotten them at California Grill and usually one with just my husband (well, my daughter too, but she's 1 so she eats maybe half a slice). We also get an appetizer, entree, and dessert each. I promise you we're not large people (we just don't eat most of the day so we have room cause we love CG!) so my thought is you could probably eat about half, maybe a little less (my husband eats more than half of ours which is what I'm basing this on). Just make sure not to stock up on lots of other treat earlier in the day!

Another thought regarding the flatbread - have any left-over wrapped in foil and you can nibble on it throughout the rest of the day.

I have had the flatbread and it is good. We didn't want to fill up on the bread before the meal, so I asked the waitperson to package it to go without even bringing it to the table. No problem. It came in handy a bit later, both for us to munch on and as a bit of 'feed' for the ducks & birds we ran across (not literally, of course) at Epcot.

At Mama's our waitperson said their chef feels that Americans tend to over-eat, so he tells them not to automatically put certain things on the table (I won't say what - but if you are missing something, just ask). This helps eliminate waste and waist at the same time!

Enjoy your dinner and your stay!

Thanks for the replies, justhat and 2ofus :flower: I'll have to make sure I stay away from the delights of mickey bars to build up an appetite, and your suggestion of packaging it to go is also good - especially as my dining time is 4.30pm, and I might even be ready for a little nibble by the time Fantasmic rolls around :)

I've got an unusual question. We are going to try to reserve FDP on Jan. 2 for 12 people. 1/2 of us are on MYW package and the other 1/2 of us will have the DDE card? Has anyone used their DDE card with the FDP?

We have dinner reservations at Sci-Fi at 5:50, all they had, will we have time to get to Fantasmic? It's the only night we can go and we don't want to miss it. So should I cancel and get the fantasmic dinner package since it's on the dinning package now? Or will we have time to get seats?

Thanks

I have the same question!!!

I also got confirmation from a CM yesterday that I could combine the FDP and MYW dining plan.

If I choose the Fantasmic package, will we be restricted to just the previously outlined menu options? Or will the dining plan overrule and we'll be allowed to order whatever we choose?

I'm still waiting for a later time - 4:10 is too early for dinner and conflicts with the parade.
I don't have an exact answer to your question but the Fantasmic Dinner Package was pretty much the same as what is included in a reg dinner plan...the only exception I believe is that the FDP does not include drinks period...I am not sure if that changes since the DP normally does include a drink...but when I was on FDP w/ out the dining plan last time at MM, they just gave us a regular menu I believe...I dont think there was any restrictions on what you could order. I am going to be calling tommorrow to ask about this since I just found out I can use my free dining for it and have already booked it, so if you don't get an answer by then I will post what I find out.

I inquired through WDW dining the policy on Fantasmic Dinner package and the dining plan. You can use dining plan for the package. Brown & Derby utilizes 2 TS and both Mama Melrose & Hollywood & Vine utilize 1 TS entitlement. You can only book these within the 100 day window (90 days if a non disney resort guest). I inquired as to the times for dinner and was told you can make dinner ADR's between 4 and 4:30, but I have no idea if you get to choose between the 2 shows (assuming there are two different shows). I made mine at 4:30. I do not know anything about a seperate Fantasmic Dinner menu either. My date for the show is December 22nd.

I am not really "up" on the latest Fantasmic rules--but I have not heard that you can reserve 100 days out. Can you explain?

It's not really 100 days out. The new policy for onsite guests is at 90 days from check in you can book ALL your ADRs for your whole trip up to 10 days.

I called tonight to reserve the fantasmic package for 12/6 and there is anlready no availability. Wow, I had no idea the packages filled up that quickly. I was able to make an ADR for 4:30pm at H&V. Do you think that is enough time to make it to the show on the stand-by line for the 7pm show? We do want to see the Osbourne Christmas lights prior to the show, too, since this will be the only day we will be at MGM. Does this seem feasable? I don't want to go any earlier as we don't want to miss the parade.
Thanks!

IMO it will be tight. It doesn't really matter what time you get out of H&V cause the Osborne Lights don't start till the same time everynight, which I think is 6pm. By the time you walk through the whole display and then walk to Fantasmic my guess is that it would be 6:30. I'm guessing you'd still get in, though probably not a great seat, so if that doesn't matter to you then you're all set. What I would do is see the Osborne Lights after Fantasmic if possible, that way after you eat you could just go to Fantasmic and get a better seat. Of course, if Osborne Lights start earlier than I think then you'd be fine too.

I don't know when the parade is during your stay but Disney takes into account those wanting to do both Fantasmic and Osborne lights in the same night...they keep Osborne Lights open for those seeing Fantasmic so you can see the lights AFTER the show. That is what we always do.

Otherwise, you will not have time for your meal, the parade AND Osborne Lights before Fantasmic.

justhat and baettyfamily, thanks for the info. I was not aware we could see the lights after the show. If that is the case we will do that. I had thought they close the park right after the fantasmic show.
How long is the show?

Yes, the lights are open for Fantasmic guests after the show. The show is about 1/2 hour I'd say??

Have fun!
