Fantasmic Dinner Package Changes

We were allowed use the MYW dinign plan at H&V in July no problem. It was not supposed to used-we meant for her to charge it to our room as we were told numerous times we could not use the dining plan for the package. That really changed my planning quick. It never hurts to ask. Most people in area around us had no problem using the dining plan either at MM or HBD. Also when you give your KTTW card tell them if you want it to charged to your room and not on the dining plan :rotfl2:

Did you use it for the Fantasmic dinner package?

YUP. Not a problem. I was told by Disney Dining to keep this is mind and plan to pay OOP for a cheaper TS meal say like a Charater Breakfast. Remember H&V doesn't lose any thing on the dining plan they still get the 22-23 dollars your waitstaff get a 15% tip, which I don't know anyone who tips that a buffet. Everyone's happy. Didn't remember to ask though and thought it was going to be charged to my room. I just signed the slip and off I went with my voucher for seating. I paid for Donalds later instead. Just remember to plan a ressie you don't mind paying for or cancelling depending on what happens when you get to the resturant. I know it was only a $10 differance for me but I could have cancelled and not paid anything out pocket. Many people around us said they did this at MM too although I can't say for sure as I haven't.

Now I am thoroughly confused. I am going with my family from Dec. 14 - 18. We definitely want to eat at HBD and definitely want to go to Fantasmic. Do I get the Dining Plan, make a regular PS and just hope our CM looks kindly on us and gives us a voucher? Do I get the dining plan, make a ressie for FDP at HBD and just pray they let us use our disney dining credits and not charge us extra? Or do I forego the dining plan altogether and just go with the FDP? Help!

It doesnt sound like Disney has a clear and concise answer either! We're going with the Dining Plan, H&V seems to be the "cheapest" dinner pkg, so I made a ressie with disney dining, and at that time, I did say we need to pay out of pocket for some (when she told me this wasnt included in the dining plan) but I believe those that posted saying they were given the 'voucher'

When we went last year we were given a voucher to Fantasmic (had to do with given really wrong information about Beauty and the Beast, and so I went to guest service, and they felt bad about the computer error and gave me the voucher - I didnt ask, I had just wanted to make sure the computer info did mess with anyone else!!)

The voucher we were given was "red" and when we went thru the 'secret' passage the CM said oh, you have a 'red' one... everyone else had yellow I believe - so I asked... turns out red was given from guest services, yellow from dining :confused3

That was when I decided it was worth it to use the FDP!! even tho the seats are on the side, I liked it!

so I hope to get a 'card' from H&V and use the dining plan, but if not, no big deal, its worth it to us!!

I got a Fantastmic Dinner Show Reservation for Saturday, September 10 at 5:50. I made 3:40 reservations early in the week and when I went to change there was a 5:50! Yippee!

We ate at Hollywood and vine on Saturday 27th and we had dinner reservations but not the fantasmic dinner reservation. When we were seated they gave us a green or blue card. The waiter started explaining to us how to use the fantasmic pass and we cut in and said we are paying for this with our dining plan and he said that was fine. I do suggest making reservations because we were sitting on the patio waiting to be seated and a women and her son came up and wanted to eat they told her they where all booked up. She was mighty ticked off. I was not expecting to get the fantasmic pass but they gave it to us knowing we were using the dinning plan.

I'm going the first week in January. Will it be crowded enough to need a dinner package to get a good seat at Fantasmic?

We went the second week, Dr Martin Luther King holiday, and had no trouble getting a good seat without the package. We got there maybe an hour before show time.

I echo that confusion. It seems you have to make a ressie for the dinner package to get the voucher and then offer your dining card for payment? Is that what you are saying?

Hello! This is my first post, been lurking for a while...

Good news!

I called this morning while making dinner reservations, intending to have to pay for the Fantasmic Dinner and show ticket.

While making my reservation, I was told as of today (9/4/05) Fantasmic Dinner package is included in the MYW dinner plan. I was asked for a credit card number in case of no cancellation/no show reason only.

Mama Melrose and H&V are 1 credit and HDB are 2 credits.

We did this last year and it was nice having the ticket to get a seat at Fantasmic!

Hope this helps! :cool1:

Sophierella,

Thanks for the info. I read about the change on another board two days ago. I was just waiting for someone to confirm it.

This is great news for everyone! I just hope that now they'll also include the DDE discount as well.

We have a ressie on Nov.3rd at 5:50.@ Mama Melrose. After I made the reservations I told them that we were paying for the dining plan. She advised me that I couldn't use the dining plan for the Fantasmic pkg. but I could use it for a reg ressie. I didn't want to pay extra so I left it that way. Now, with these changes if I change the ressie to the Fantasmic pkg. will I be able to keep the time or will I have to start over? Anyone know?
TIA Deb

I just got an answer to my previous ? I called Disney dining and was told they set aside a certain number of tables for Fantasmic. The best they could do was 4:00. We arrive at Disney on that day--so if we were delayed we would be out a $10 charge per person on my cc. The ressies have to be canceled 48 hrs. in advance. So I kept the orig.
Sorry to ramble.
Deb

I also got confirmation from a CM yesterday that I could combine the FDP and MYW dining plan.

If I choose the Fantasmic package, will we be restricted to just the previously outlined menu options? Or will the dining plan overrule and we'll be allowed to order whatever we choose?

I'm still waiting for a later time - 4:10 is too early for dinner and conflicts with the parade.

We were just at Hollywood and Vine. We were on the dining plan so didn't reserve for the dinner/show. When were finished our meal our waitress asked us if we were going to Fantasmic. We said yes and she gave us a voucher-red-with the number in our party written on it.

We used it and they were very strict that you had to have the voucher to get into that area. It was the right side of the amplitheatre(about 1/5th of the seats) and we had great seats. We got there about 8:00. About 8:10 there was a CM directing the wave-normal, fast, slow, with hand claps--it was lots of fun despite the heat.

One little draw back-we were not allowed to leave by way of the voucher enterance. I think the reason for this is that you were forced to pass by all the shops that were still open. It was a fabulous show and I recommend it to everyone.

If you've got the dining package for a night that has 3 showings of Fantasmic, do you have to specify which show you plan to attend when you make the ressies?

I've only ever been at WDW when there were 2 showings of Fantasmic on one night. At that time, when I made my dining reservation, I was told that the package was only for the first showing and that there wasn't a package if I intended to go to the second showing.

Mmmmm...We're planning on New Years Eve. We want to see the afternoon parade, too. According to last year's schedule, Fantasmic was at 6:30, 8:30 and 10:30 (I think...I don't have my notes handy.) I wonder if we could eat AFTER Fantasmic.

Fantasmic package, as far as I know, has always been that you can use the voucher for the first show only, not the second (or even third show) and that you had to eat first and got the voucher from the waiter.

I believe they will not accept the voucher at the second (and third) show. They won't have the special back entrance open for the package people and they probably won't save any seats for the package people either.
