Hello all! Just returned from a wonderful 7 night stay at WDW. It was an almost perfect trip...weatherwise, foodwise and crowdwise. Ok, so it was a teensy bit more crowded than I expected, but still, it was manageable. The highlight of our trip was MNSSHP and also PftS on saturday night!
On Wednesday night, Oct 12, we had the FDP at HBD. You know, if you order the expensive stuff off the menu, it is QUITE a deal. We paid $36.99 for myself and also for DH, and we could order one app, entree and dessert each. Well, I ordered the Cobb Salad which is supposed to be for two, but my DH wanted the crab cake app. The waiter said that was no problem so he brought us the Cobb Salad for two AND the crab cakes! Let me tell you, the Cobb Salad was better than I expected. So many people on these boards rave about that salad and I just thought, "Eh...how great can a boring old salad be?" Well, it was probably one of the best salads I have had!
I had the fliet mignon with a merlot reduction, it was great...tender, cooked just as I requested (medium rare.) DH had the pork tenderloin with smoked tomato fondue and sweet corn succotash and it was also delish!
I had a special dessert for the happiest celebration...some sort of a chocolate thingy...Featuring Orange Chocolate Impression. The presentation was beautiful and artistic, but I preferred DH's white chocolate macadamia cheesecake .
So if you total my meal, I had a $12.99 app, a $27.99 entree and $8.29 dessert-- $49!!! So I made out pretty well with the package! I asked our waiter before we ordered if he would accept the DDE card for the FDP and he said he was not allowed. I then asked him to ring up our cocktails seperate so I could use my DDE card for that and he said no problem! Our bar bill was $35 but with the DDE it was $28.
HBD is much nicer inside than it looks in the pictures I have seen. It is much more dark and romantic. All the pics I have seen make it look very bright. We requested a booth and it really added to the experience.
This was the first time I had seen Fantasmic and the show was wonderful. I can see where the package was not *needed* but the theater was pretty full when we got there, so we were glad to have our reserved seats. I do see now what people mean when they say there truly are no "bad" seats for Fantasmic.
Thanks for reading my review!
