If you're on the dining plan and planning to eat at one of the restaurants anyways, then do the dining package. If not, it shouldn't be hard to grab the FP.
Well, if you want a dining package because you want it to be part of your dinner plans, then go for it. However, it's absolutely not necessary. Same day FP+ are easy to come by.
If you show up 45-60 minutes or so early, you don't even need a FP+, you'll still get a seat with no problem. Even with a FP+, you want to be that early for the "better" seats
The FP and Dining Package have a reserved area to sit, but the good seats do fill in early.
The reserved seating is more toward the middle and you have a really good view, but no seats are really bad.
We've used the Dining Package, FP and Stand By and all worked well if you get there early.
