Quick question... my family is heading to Disneyland in mid-June. We are thinking of doing one of the Fantasmic dinner packages. Which restaurant option is your favorite and why? Price is a consideration but this will most likely be our only sit down dinner (although I know one option is a grab and go).

I know the atmosphere of Blue Bayou can't be beat, but is it worth the extra expense?

Thanks!

Blue Bayou is my go to restaurant, even if there is no dining package for a show or parade :) For the dining package it is a set menu of starter, main course and dessert. Check out the menu before hand and make sure everyone in the party can order one of the options on the set menu.

I have done Blue Bayou twice (just for dinner) but am doing River Belle for the Fantasmic! package. Money is a factor for us, as well, and while the ambiance is cool, I'm not willing to spend what Disney wants for the limited menu options and a thin cushion I will end up just throwing away.

If you have never done Blue Bayou I highly suggest you try it, but not for the Fantasmic! package. The ambiance is really cool, and the full menu is delicious. Go at lunch time when it is less busy and you can relax and enjoy your meal while still getting to watch the Pirate boats float by. If you have oodles of extra dollars to spend than by all means book the Fantasmic! Package, but understand you are getting a limited menu, and so are paying MORE for less of an experience.

I felt like we got all the value possible from the BB F! dining package. My son and I both love steak so we got the surf and turf meals. It is a TON of food, plus the souvenir seat pads and centered viewing of the show. If you just order a salad and don't eat much else, it's not worth it. We went hungry and took dessert and bread to go which made a nice snack while waiting for the show to start a few hours later.

I can't speak for the other places, but I did the River Belle Terrace package a few weeks ago and very much enjoyed the food there. I had the corn chowder, the fired chicken sandwich with baked beans and seasonal vegetables, and the "Dragon" desert, which was the highlight. It was a very filling meal, but very sweet too. I don't just mean the desert either, which was lightly sweet with a little spice in it. The barbecue sauce for the chicken was quite sweet, and the beans, oh my, the sweet beans! I know we southerners have a reputation for putting sugar in all our cooking, but I've never had beans that sweet! Now, I'm not saying they were bad by any means. They were delicious, but heavy. I balanced it out with the vegetables, because, hey, you need to have some real food at some point. It even had brussels sprouts, which I don't like, but they were on the okay side. It curiously came with two-and-a-half baby carrots. One was literally sliced vertically to have a flat side. It was just something I found odd.

At any rate, I do recommend RBT, not necessarily over the other venues, but I don't think you'd be disappointed.

I did the BB package two weeks ago. I got surf and turf and the steak was great but it was the first time I tried lobster and I wasn't a fan. That's not BB's fault unless they ruined it which I wouldn't know. I hated the sweet bread and the spicy potatoes and I was very disappointed in the very bland chocolate mousse Sorcerer Mickey dessert. My one daughter loved the eight layer hazelnut chocolate cake and her pasta and veggies, but my other daughter had the exact same meal and dessert as me and agreed with my assessment. They both loved their gumbo. I really wanted River Belle but they were booked. At any rate, our viewing area was fantastic and we arrived at 8:45 for a 9:00 show (this was Dapper Day weekend, besides) and there was PLENTY of space. The music syncs perfectly with what you see right in front of you whereas those to the sides of us were hearing the wrong music with the wrong characters. Also the seat cushion?? It's not some flimsy, thin thing you throw away. It's about an inch and a half thick of FIRM foam. It's NOT cheap or useless. I brought all three of them home and have already been on Ebay looking for a fourth. They will come in handy for MANY things like kneeling on a hard floor scrubbing it or doing yardwork/weeding or sitting on bleachers at a game. They came in a bag with handles but the seats themselves have cut-out handles as well. Since you are sitting on the bumpy cobblestone pavement for the show (no matter which dining package you choose you are sitting on the bumpy cobblestone) the cushions made a world of difference. OH, also, I even sat on my cushion that night on Mansion and Pirates...

If you were thinking of eating there anyway, I would pick Blue Bayou. The price is comparable to what you would pay if ordering off the regular menu, there are a lot of options, and the new cushions are a lot nicer than the ones we got 4-5 years ago when the first F! packages were offered (the purple one with Malificent). We did RBT last year and the food was decent but a little overpriced for what it was, and service was terrible. I feel like we actually get better value with BB considering the atmosphere and food, but if price is the biggest consideration RBT is perfectly fine.

Anyone who has done the BB Fantasmic package, can you post a picture or semi detailed description of the seat cushion? Just what it looks like, don't care about measurements. I'm just wondering if it's something we would keep or if we'd just toss it after? I have 3 days until I can book dining so I'm trying to come up with a plan. TIA

I actually was hoping for this, too. We did it in 2015, but it was the purple one referenced above. Nice and pretty thick-we definitely appreciated it-but it'd be fun to get something different.

We had the surf & turf, and our friend had the steak. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Love the gumbo too. The usual drink options came with meal plus mint julep. The cushion was a nice extra and wish we had it for the Paint The Night Parade.
The reserved viewing area was perfect. And we stayed for the fireworks that was also a good view. They had the projections right in front of us.
We went Friday night and it was also Grad Night :scared: so I was doubly happy to have a reserved section!

Do you sit at the table to view Fantasmic? If so, how was the view

I didn't. My dinner was a few hours before the show, and I chose the late show. They gave me a ticket to get into the reserved area, which was pretty much right in the center. The entrance for it though is way down by Haunted Mansion, so it look slike you are going to be off to the said, but you really won't be. A CM will lead you down to the proper area.

I think our seating was near HM too. We were dead Centre in front of the projections. We got there right when they started letting us into area and got sitting area right in front of the river by rail. Got a bit damp with all the mist esp when pirate ship came out. Was glad my daughter bought her fleece blanket along.

Is there a site where I can see the limited menus for the 2 restaurants?

We did the package in August and the seat cushion featured a variety of park icons.

That seat cushion is so cute and colorful! I love the Mickey cutout. Now I'm a little disappointed this was the one we got this April.

Oh well, still comfy though.
