Fantasmic Dining Package at Mama Melrose ?

I have booked the package at MM for 5:30PM. On this particular night, MGM has EMH until 1AM and 2 Fantasmic shows. Is it really worth it to do the Fantasmic package to get the "better" viewing area, or just wing it and go to the 2nd show by waiting? I looked at the menu, and it really isn't all that great and am thinking about getting Capt'n Jack or Wolfgang Puck ressies instead as I will have time to go to DTD and dine there and then get over to MGM . Can you please offer your opinions on this?

All viewing areas are good; the F!DP reserved area is one section over from the far right when you're facing the display area; and yes, your BEST option is to just attend the second show. Historically, Guests have been able to get good seats at the later show very close to show time (e.g. fifteen minutes vs sixty-plus)

My GF and I did the Mama Melrose/Fantasmic Dinner thing last year, and we weren't impressed with the food or the seating area. Maybe it's just what we ordered, but it just wasn't very good.

The seating area didn't really seem "preferred" either. It's kind of off to the side as opposed to right in the middle. We wound up not sitting there, opting to sit somewhere in the middle instead.

The seating isn't preferred, it's just reserved (well, until fifteen or twenty minutes before the show, when it's assumed all FDPers are there and then 'regular' people are allowed into that area )

Oh, okay. We were under the assumption that we would get really good seats, as opposed to just having some held for us. Still, though, unless you really want to eat at Mama Melrose, you're better off claiming your own seats.

Thanks for your opinions. Sounds like I am just going to wing it and try for the 2nd show. I really didn't see anything I was dying to try there and so I am going to go to Captain Jack's in DTD instead!
