Hi,
I was just wondering what people's experiences were recently with the Fantasmic dining package. What was the food like? Were you glad you spent the money? Thanks! We're going down with 4 older teenagers.
Chris

We've had great experiences. My favorite is Brown Derby (yummy) with grown-ups, IMO, hands down the best food at MGM.

My second favorite is Mama Melrose, but the service is slower. Hollywood & Vine food is okay, but it's great to eat immediately after seating. Sci-Fi is fun, and the food is okay...probably the best choice for teens: burgers, fries and milkshakes!

We really like the convenience of pretty good seats without investing the wait time on the bleachers. The package allows you to enter 1/2 hour before show time with reserved seating area. IMO, that is worth the package!:thumbsup2

We love the convenience, but won't be going back to Hollywood & Vine. Next time will be Mama Melrose. H&V was horrible this past trip (Dec. 06) - like bad school cafeteria food bad. Definitely not worth the money (or TS credits.) I also don't see Brown Derby being honestly worth 2 TS credits, so all we are left with for next time is Mama Melrose.

This past July was our first time trying the Fantasmic Dining Package and we loved it! We ate at Hollywood and Vine and told our waitress that we were doing the Fantasmic Package and she gave us our pass to hand in when we headed over. When we were done eating, we took our time heading over to the entrance we could go in and we were quite a bit early for the show and there were already a lot of people already coming in. We loved having the short-cut and being able to pick out a great seat for our favorite show! This year we will be trying Mama Melrose's for the Fantasmic package! :wizard:

We loved H&V. The food was good and hot. Our problem was with the seating at Fantasmic. We arrived 30 min early as directed. Reserved seating was full. They would not let you stand behind the wheelchairs, and it was too late to sit elsewhere. We had to stand in the back and hold the kids (D8 and DD3) on our shoulders, so they could see over everyone's heads. DH and I saw nothing! I wish we had been told that they overbooked the packages, and we would have made other plans. This year we are eating at Prime Time, and watching the second show.

Over Thanksgiving week we ate at H&V and food was hot and tasty. Plenty of seats to watch the Fantasmic show...however, we showed up 40 minutes and not the standard 30 minutes before the show.

If eating at H&V - do an early ADR. - then get a snack at Fantasmic.

Start your walk at least 45 mins before Fantasmic - even with the passes.
The Witches section is great seats witht he Fantasmic passes.

We are eating at 3:40 PM (late lunch - early dinner) at H&V for Fantasmic during Easter week - crowds everywhere :rotfl2:
The parade is at 4 pm - so we hope to avoid the parade line up - we saw the car parade last year - no need to view it again.

Fantasmic has a small snack menu you can buy pre-show (or during I guess)...
New York Style Hot Dog $4.25
Pretzels $3.50
Cheese $1.00
Chips $2.50
Cotton Candy $3.00
Kid's Box Lunch $5.50 (PB&J uncrustable)
Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite $2.00
Bottled Water 24 oz. $2.00
Milk $2.00
Bud Light/Bud Draft $5.75
Heineken Draft $6.25
Itzakadoozie $2.50

You have different options for food with the package. Mama Melroses which is Italian, Hollywood and Vine which is buffet, and The Hollywood Brown Derby which is an upscale venue. Hollywood and Vine is the least expensive if you are paying out of pocket and rather have a buffet, or you can use your dining plan and it's 1 ts credit per person, Mama melroses is the second in line it costs a couple dollars more out of pocket, but still only 1 TS credit, and Hollywood Brown Derby is the most expensive, and will cost your 2 Table service credits each. You can locate menus for what each offers on All ears. I think based on what you asked it's going to be up to you on if it's worth it and what of those choices your family would like, also if you have a budget what it allows for. If you rather have vouchers for seats rather than waiting in line then it maybe worth it for you. Just all a matter of personal choice. JMO there

I thought the Fantasmic package was a pretty good deal. We ate at Hollywood and Vine and thought the food was good, but the best part was not having to wait for Fantasmic seats. Dh and I showed up about 10 minutes before show time and still sat only a few rows from the front. I did have one complaint about H&V- the waitress. She was rather rude and she gave me a hard time about a drink I ordered. I look really young (18ish) even though I'm 26, so of course she carded me for the drink. No problem, I just whipped out my good 'ol NY license. Then she asked me where I was from, checking to be sure my answers matched my ID. Apparently she still wasn't satisfied b/c she took so long to deliver the drink that everyone in my group had finished eating and we were ready to pay. It was ridiculous. On the whole I would recommend the package, though- it was quite convenient.

We ate at Mama Melrose this past December and really enjoyed our meal!

Service was prompt, good, attentive, etc. The food was good too!

We got good seats at the show and just enjoyed the whole experience!

This year we are eating at Prime Time, and watching the second show.

Is Prime Time included with the Fantasmic package? I also didn't realize that there were 2 showings of Fantasmic.

Thanks for all of your comments and suggestions, and the snack menu too!

Chris

No its not one of the restaurants included..what the person means is they arent doing the Fantasmic package. The package is only good for the 1st show but at busy times they have 2 shows..the later one is usually not as busy so not as necessary to do the package

FYI We really like H&V, great food and we have been there twice..not the friendliest waiter/waitress but they did the job

We were happy with our Fantasmic! Package. We did Mama Melrose's. The food was good, and it was very nice not having to hold a seat for an hour or two at Fantasmic! just to get a good spot.

The only thing I'd point out by way of caution, though, is that if you want to be front and center, you'll be better off without the package. You'll have to go to the theater very early, stake out your seats, and wait. But then you'll be front and center.

For us, it didn't matter. Seeing it from the dinner package side proved to be no problem at all. We didn't miss a thing.

We really liked Mama Melrose, too. The food was excellent, and the food was very good. We plan to return on our next trip in July.
