We are going to Disneyland the first week of August.

I would love some feedback on this option. Is it worth the money? Certainly summer is a busy time and that may push it over the edge.

Do they have this option every night Fantasmic shows?

We did this in October of 2009. We were a little concerned if the show and the seats would be as good as a couple of years earlier when we had seating in the old Disney Gallery balcony. This was with about 20 total folks, all the deserts and drinks you could consume during the show and if you did the early seating you could also stay and watch the fireworks. It was great and we all really enjoyed it.
When we did the October seating you now sit in the first raised tier of the viewing area. Our seats were just about dead center and were great with no obstructions to viewing. The desert box was more than enough. We actually shared one and saved the other for snacking on the next day. Drinks were sodas, coffee, water and maybe some others...
We had a great time and the viewing was every bit as enjoyable as the seats up in the balcony. We would do it again, and probably will in 2011 or 2012.
As far as I know, the desert and special seating is available for every performance of Fantasmic....at least the scheduled 9 and 10:30 shows.

We did the dessert seating August 2009. It was awesome! The dessert box, as many will tell you, is much more than enough! and it is delicious. Those around us were all very happy and friendly, and we had a great time chatting before the show began. During the show, we had a great view (even being in the second row) and enjoyed being able to relax while the crowds cleared out a little before continuing with our vacation. I highly recommend spending the extra money - it is worth it!

Thanks for the feedback. That was what I was thinking - the reserved seats! Now I need to convince DH and start saving. We will be traveling with my in-laws. They will certainly be a no go on the cost so I will neeed to do it on our one alone day. We do not travel until the first week of August - so I will wait patiently :rotfl2: for the hours and times!

It is really expensive, but I have to saw it's worth it IMO, especially if you have kids and don't want to deal with long waits and crushing crowds. There is TONS of food in there..we could have had it for dinner and been fine (cheese, crackers and fruit). My grandkids thought is was awesome and I'm so glad we didn't have to worry about hanging on to them in the crowd. When I don't have the kids I do fine over by the Tom Sawyer (oops..Pirates Lair) raft area. Different persepctive and view, but still very nice. I say try it once and see if you think it's worth it. I'm planning on it again in October when I take another grandkid batch..

We had front row center last year and it was well worth the $$$. The bigest problem was if you left the area it was very difficult to get back to the seats because of the masses, JUST CRAZY.

Good advice - do not leave your seats! With little ones and needs for the bathroom we will have to remember that.

Does anyone have a picture of the dessert box? Do adults and children all receive the same? Do you have to get up and down for drinks?

Thanks again - this has been very helpful.

everyone receives the same large tasty desert box. CMs deliver the box and your drinks to you at your seat. You do not have to get up to get anything.:)

Just a note from a "frugal spender" -- we strongly considered this option for our trip last September but I just couldn't bring myself to pay the money for us all (me, husb, my mom, and 2 kids 5 & 2). Especially when I read that the seating is rowed and people start lining up to get their reservations at 4 pm. I was worried we would get seats in a middle or back row and my young daughters wouldn't be able to see. So this is what we did, my mom & I arrived early (around 4 pm - before the Main St parade) after spending the day at CA. We got second "blanket row" seating next to the fence off center facing the left center area of the island. There were already quite a few other people with blankets lining the center/offcenter front right up against the fence. My husband had my 2 daughters and kept them playing while my mom & I put down the blanket and played cards. When my husband came over from CA the parade was going and he watched it with the kids then joined us. I went and bought dinner for all of us and then we took a bathroom break. It is hard to get around the crowds so it helps to pick a spot right near a set of steps because you have a pathway to get in and out. We had one last bathroom break before the show and the crowds were completely insane by that point. We stayed after and watched the fireworks from our spot. I am very happy that we did not spend the money on the dessert seating because this all worked out quite nicely for our family and saved us big bucks. We did spend 5 days at the park so it didn't matter that we missed a few rides while waiting. Also, the Tarzan treehouse is right by there so we took the kids through it while we waited for the show to begin. So, if you are watching your money and have a person who is willing to wait, it can be done.

I did this solo in July 09, loved the dessert box and the neverending pop! I also had almost dead center.

Here's a daytime picture of approximately where I sat to watch the show.

The good advice keeps on coming!

I agree about the cost being a lot. We do not go until August so i will start putting a little bit away at a time.

We will be in California with my in-laws for about 10 days. This will be our only day on our own. A liffle celebration may be called for by this time! :rotfl2:

If it is just the two of you, I would definitely go for it. You will never know until you have tried it, and with two the cost won't be too prohibitive.
Is it expensive, absolutely.
Is it worth it, absolutely.

Not something we do at every visit. But for that ocassional special treat, it is great.

This sounds like a great idea. How much is it or where can I find that information? :confused3

Thanks!!

Love the pics! This sounds like a great option for our family. Just to clarify...if we buy this dessert package, then what time do we need to show up for say, the earlier show?

It was 69 pp I believe, kids 10 cheaper. We didn't start lining up until about 1 1/2 hour before. DH, DD and DGKs went and did some stuff, I checked in, we went and got a little dinner and came back. After you check in you are good to go since they assign your seats then/ Alot of people in the line were checking in for the later show. This was on Labor Day weekend, and the line was not bad at all.

We paid $59 in September (not sure if it went up?). They do not give discounts for APs, etc. We lined up pretty early because we wanted front row, center. We got there a little after 6:00 I believe and there were already 2 people in front of us. They started checking us in at 8:00. Then we couldn't actually go sit down until 8:30.
